Happy Holidays!

Happy Holiday!

Only one day left in good old 2014 and I find myself at the most gorgeous, yet coldest location ever. While jumping up and down in the park of Klessheim, Austria, I can’t help the thought that this very moment pretty much resembles the extremes of this year.

I’m not a big fan of quotes (unless they contain the words “high heels” or make me giggle (like “DON’T READ THE NEXT WORDS...... “oh - you little rebel I like you”.....), but if there’s something that I learned to be true, it’s that it’s worth to fight for your beliefs: no matter what. There will always be doubters, haters and non-believers but there will also always be YOU to prove them wrong. And YES, you can do it (even when you are freezing your toes off). And YES, keep your dreams as high as the heels that you are wearing.
What 2015 will bring? I have no idea, but I am excited to share it with you. Thank you for being part of all sore feet, blisters, highs- and lows measured in heels 2014.

Happy Holidays my dear shoelovers, I hope we will meet again in 2015!

Boyfriend almost broke his hip while slipping through Berlin (black ice and snow), another friend almost couldn’t make it from LAX to NYC (snowstorm), and it seems that all of Europe is dealing with snowy conditions. Meanwhile in Amsterdam: tulips are already growing everywhere..

I really shouldn’t complain about the lack of snowflakes dancing their way from the sky though as the side-effects are always deadly for foot gear of any kind (salt, muddy puddles, three layers of pantyhose, no peeptoes!), but must confess I miss the winter magic a little. It seems quite unnatural that I haven’t had at least one opportunity to go outside and freeze my feet off while attempting to create a wintery setting. Well, to feature today’s gorgeous “snow-white” heels, had the brain wave of unleashing the content of three bags of cotton balls to at least have a snowflakey effect. (Eat that NYC!)
> Now I can complain about the mess I created and which needs to be vacuumed, and the phrase: “cotton content” keeps popping into my mind while typing. A little bit like “cat content” all this: fluffy and fun, but utterly useless. Snow, you can come now!

Let’s Play Outside

Let's Play Outside

Just when I was ready to come out of my (self-chosen) hibernation and start bothering about spring trends (aka sleeveless dresses in graphic patterns), winter has struck back with a vengeance and covered Amsterdam in a white and silent blanket: snow! It's only a couple of centimetres that we're talking about, but as the Dutch never seem to be prepared when it comes to winter (except when the canals are frozen - read: skating boots) a whole city has now turned into a "sleeping beauty" - winter fairytale.

It's so quiet you may very well hear the ice flowers grow on your window (goodie bag from mother nature, delivering A/W trend "floral patterns" straight to your home - AWESOME!), and utterly tempting to stay inside indeed. Can't resist taking flowers out into their natural environment though and enjoy a "white" carpet for once.

Let's play outside, shall we?

Today's story was enthusiastically written before slipping on icy ground (damn you, leather soles!) and getting myslf a well deserved big bruise. Will never utter a bad word about the Dutch and their winter gear ever again.

Am exaggerating. Slightly. Maybe.

The Dutch summer is officially gone (after having never really started). You can tell, not just by looking at the weather (why didn’t Stella come up with a neoprene jumpsuit as IT-piece for SS2012?), but more so from own mood (miserable, grumpy, overconsumption of chocolate cookies).
Plus, when the most anticipated show on TV - the weather report (new “Breaking Bad” anyway) - only uses phrases like: “tomorrow will definitely be better “, “you never know what next week will bring” and: “heeeeeeeey: it’s 18 degrees, why complain?”, you know for sure.

Tired of buying wooly jumpers rather than sandals on sale (compulsive online buys also vary from wraps to (another) umbrella and flippers), I may be exaggerating but have decided to kick off “cozy season” instead of constantly moaning (bad for your skin anyway, on the off chance next summer offers you an opportunity to show it..).

If anyone is looking for me: I’m the fur ball formerly known as swimsuit goddess, hiding under blankets, heater on. Best featured body part this summer season? Tip of nose, dipped in hot chocolate.

I rest my case.
