A YSL weekend

A YSL weekend

The weekend of Sinterklaas is (not only for the Dutch) the perfect event to gather friends, children, siblings, even pets (if available) and feast yourself through presents, sweets (pepernoten are highly popular) and everything which starts with alc- and ends with -ohol. Since EVERYBODY is partying and I obviously never say “no” to a decent festivity, I hopped my way (in gorgeous heels no doubt) from one celebration to another, hugging, kissing, drinking and eating my heart out.

No wondermthat my Sunday turned out to be a super slow one, cuddling myself through the house, not able to lift a finger any further than to reach for a book, detoxing tea, and of course pet the lovely collection of shoes I wore (one never can be too tired to caress Italian leather...).

You see: yummie, sophisticated, loving weekend: Totally YSL.
Hope you had a good one too!

My average weekend is a master plan in accurate timing and meaningful topics. I might have scheduled to call Bill Clinton about the next charity thingy (no, not that one in the oval office), have a Skype conference with Haruki Murakami philosophizing about the feasibility of life and love and probably brooding with Stephen Hawking over some cosmology. You know, the usual: trying to safe the world or at least make it a better place.

This weekend I totally screwed up though. Didn’t call Bill back, pressed mute on Skype, changed cosmology for Cosmopolitan (sorry Stephen!) and only cared about great literature (aka 224 pages of Vogue), studied the influence of supplements (especially those of Vitamin D, (sun) which I can tell you now ends in a damn broad smile) and the theory of colors (magenta nail polish against a cloudless cyan sky = pure color harmony).

Oh! I learned balancing a watermelon on my heel. Seems the weekend was not that useless after all.

Jazz usually makes me yawn (aka introverted musicians moving weirdly to tunes which make you want to fall asleep after five minutes have never been my thing), and since I’m not a big fan of sleeping anyway (boring!) I tend to avoid it. Must confess though, that the combination of the perfect location, the most chilled mood, and some neighbours playing Gershwin is quite inspiring and hard to resist (aka instantly triggers my “relax button”).

After having had a wonderful lazy and sunny weekend (almost, but only almost, too lazy and too sunny to put on some decent footwear), pouring glasses of ice-cold white wine only, unwinding (haha - from doing nothing except reading glossies and being lazy), I feel like I am on vacation in my own town.

Am now having the blues (in a good way!) and am suddenly very, very ....... muahhhhh.... this feels so relaxed....... very.................zzzzzzzzzzzz...

Pretty in Pink

The universe had put together quite a weird package for most of us this week (wonder if it's the star constellation or just a bad weather overkill). Emotional and occupational highs and lows followed each other as quickly as the odd 15 minutes of sunshine followed bouts of bad weather, and while I watch (with envy I must confess) Eva Herzegovina drown the prettiest pair of heels in the new Brian Atwood commercial, the world outside is drowning too. In water and snow that is. *sigh*

Having been hard at work, the pace of the last days has transformed wardrobe choices into a "Styling and Gomorra" situation and myself into some sort of bodyguard for my precious (aka heels, aka: you are not going out in that dreadful weather, you might catch a cold or worse: get ruined). On top of it all, the only parties I had to attend were the ones involving pyjamas.

Well, this is all going to change, because hurray (!) it's weekend, and time to swap grey for color (pink, my ladies always does the job, believe me) tea for cocktails, and rubber boots for the sky highs. Let's exaggerate, be pretty in pink and party like Studio 54 still exists, shall we? Only question remaining: which, oh which heel to wear???

Happy weekend everyone!

Have been working like a maniac this week and almost fell asleep between attempts to decorate house (note: Christmas baubles are not very comfortable to lie on) and computer (another note: keyboards are not either). Am already quite certain there won't be enough days in the weekend to recover (or squeeze the work in which still needs to be done). And did I mention that I have scored zero Christmas presents so far (so I'll be one of the billion people downtown tomorrow morning), and am just adding "to do's" to my lists rather than scratching them off.

Don't know why time is running so fast towards the end of the year now. Am very tempted to hand it over some of my most-impossible-to-run-in-heels, just to slow it down a little, but afraid this won't help. Only advice I have left to slow things down and stretch the moment a little: pick some good friends (read extraordinary heels), pop a good bottle, surround yourself with laughter, joy and people you love and celebrate the "it's almost Monday" blues away. Girls wanna have fun too. Have a very good weekend everyone. Cheers!

Weekend get-aways are always a treat, but especially refreshing when the place where you're staying offers (besides lovely company of host) the facilities of a five star hotel. Have been totally spoiled with constant attention and am now especially hooked to sitting endlessly in front of a fireplace, sipping German Riesling and talking all night. In socks though I must confess, as I only brought 3 pairs of heels for 2 days and ruined one of them by taking a stroll to the woods nearby (which I only did because it's twice as nice to be back in front of the fire again afterwards).

Back home totally want to continue the cosy experience (totally "on fire" for fireplaces now) but discover a tiny problem. Certainly have all sorts of lovely heels here to wear casually on some fur, but no fireplace. Hold on (major brainwave...)! Bought cheesy fireplace DVD last year already (can even choose between "fireplace original sound" or "fireplace atmospheric music") which will do perfectly. Have jumped out of socks and into peep toes (it's getting hot in here) when I discover that DVD also contains "special bonus feature" (more fire) "making of" (the fire) and haha! even an interview with the director. Oh my. Hand me over some Riesling. Please.
