On the road

I have been on the road for three days past weekend, supporting one of my favorite bands, the AdrianoBaTolba Orchestra. Eutin, our final destination might not be the sexiest place on earth (aka, it's in the middle of nowhere and you wonder if there is such thing as a fox and a hare to bid each other goodnight at all...), but it is THE place to be if you are working some Blues tunes.

And hell, they boys did! Above you find a little road map of all the destinations (four cities in three days, check!) and some favorite Rock 'n Roll heels that I packed. Despite I have to say: the only thing you really need, is a bunch of patches to cover your blisters from dancing and loads of stamina, because these guys not only can play: they can party like world champions as well.

The fourth element

I've always been fascinated with water, especially if it’s fermented with delicious grapes and comes in a bottle labeled 'Champagne'. And while browsing my blog archives it occurred to me that most of the top shooting locations were located near a gorgeous water environment. Welcome to my shooting special.

Totally thrown back by the marvelous settings, I started daydreaming in the middle of the winter about the rough windy beauty of Pantellaria, an island I had never heard of before. The memories of struggling in a paddle boat on lake Fuschl on a beautiful summer day and don’t get me started on the most outrageous BEST EVER journey to Brazil, with its dreamy coast line and crystal clear sea.

Everything seems so much easier when you are surrounded by that fourth element, some sun and a decent summery sandal (or wedge). Therefor I might just jump into the bath tub and pretend it’s a wild, untamed ocean. Heels on, and why not pop some champagne too. It’s water after all.

Paradise please!

When it comes to travel, none of todays (and yesterdays) great thinkers seem to run short on the perfect quote. You've probably read them all and I will spare you repeating the “It’s not the destination it’s the journey that counts” - of self proclaimed Facebook philosophers. Because what traveling most of the time really means is: VACATION! With a big “V” for Vanishing from routine and and an even bigger one for Vivacious Vagrancy!

The pareo is packed, the suitcase filled with sunnies, tank tops, bikinis and just that right hippie bag (which might fit the odd flip flop when tired of running on heels) and off I am for a road trip to France. Destination: gluttony Valhalla (another “V”!), ambition: just doing nothing for the next ten days (if lazily flipping through magazines, sipping rose in the sun, feasting on sea food and pretending to be a great guitar player at the pool counts as nothing). Paradise? Yes please!

But before leaving I have to get one thing off my chest: Why did none of the “The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step” thinkers ever mention the utter importance of proper footwear to begin with? No one wants to look like a jerk on something that important.Toedeledokie!

Nice Day for a White Wedding

Boyfriend rocked the crowd of a wedding once more this weekend and I more than willingly chose the role of 'the groupie' again. Off we flew to the beautiful Pantellaria, a tiny island located on the left side of Italy’s bootie shaped landscape (can’t be a coincidence that the best heels come from Italy can it?).

Down at the beautiful Pantelleria Dream Resort, for four days it only revolved around the big event, which basically meant the wedding guests were enjoying cocktails at the most amazing locations, enjoying the stunning view at the pool, exchange experiences about their sunburns and wondering if the dresses and suits they brought would fit after the over consumption of Italian pasta (the 'no carb policy' has definitely not made its entrance to the Italian lifestyle yet, thank god!).

Nothing beats the vibe at a wedding: love, happiness, tears and dances are shared throughout all generations and you always come home with tons of new friends. In my case a pair of Givenchy's, which one of the attendees wore (and with which I totally fell in love with), and the inspiration of a new shoe brand I didn’t know yet (business card of the lovely designer is still in my lost luggage...)

So it’s ultimately clear: when I’m grown up I want to be a wedding crasher officially. In some Italian heels next time, no doubt!

Shoetation wherever you go.

Packed to the max - (for safety reasons really: 22,7 kg only allows a shopping spree of 0,3 kg which definitely CAN’T be a new pair of heels) - I arrived in Bavaria last week as a living surpise for my lovely mother’s birthday. Although she surpised me really by arriving with a huge shoe box which had landed in her mail. Over hugs, kisses and champagne I could hardly wait to open MY present, which wasn't (unlike me) decorated with a huge red ribbon, but the content made me as happy as a child on Christmas morning.

Two delicate heels (oh, the smell of Italian leather gets me higher than bubbly), sent from übercool shoe store Shoetation (a must visit!): what bliss! Turned out that during the whole week I spent with my family (from long lunches in the city over visiting the country side and even climbing a mountain!) I didn’t even touch one of the heels I had brought. Today’s Gianni Marra’s are simply the perfect fit for all occasions: the perfect ladylike accessory, and they turned heads wherever I went (well, that counts especially when you're at 2.000 meters).

About that limit of 23 kg when travelling back.... well, shall we just not mention it at all?

Letters from London

Boyfriend was invited to DJ in the royal city of (brit) pop and of course the cheeky girlfriend (me) was eager to pop by too to swing some bootie and heels.

I hadn't been in London for over 15 years (I suppose shopping British designers online doesn't count as a proper “visit”...) so I was eager to see how the city has changed. To be safe for all occasions (high tea to high street), I packed five pairs of heels for three days: you simply never know when the Queen might call and you have to drop by to say hi.

Luckily she didn’t because I was way too busy squeezing in that audience at Selfridges, Shoreditch Vintage heaven, the spectacular collaboration of United Nude with 3D wizard Janne Kyttanen at Regent Street, write some postcards to my mom and not to forget: play groupie for my man.

For sure one thing hasn't changed throughout all the years: seeing the sun rise on the way home from the latest club, plus the urgent feeling to come back very VERY soon to this stunning city.

London, I love you!
