A day in France

A weekend getaway which does not imply packing suitcases neatly for a flight (in other words a legitimate fear that overweight baggage will cost as much as ticket or a pair of nice heels on sale) always evokes kind of a fashion-Tourette. More, more, more it is, so I step into our car for a surprise trip, trunk stuffed with heels, back seats covered with clothed hooks (another happy Tourette: no creasing, no creasing, no creasing!).

What a bliss that the destination chosen turns out to be the heart of the Champagne region, which -with all it’s luscious greens- just perfectly fits an equally coloured extra long skirt and delicately printed blouse (could be grapes, who knows?). A game of “Where's Wally” well played! The heels of choice, a dream in creamy suede, which are perfect for a day strolling vineyards. A heel high enough to bog down in Moët & Chandon soil (all worth it), low enough to prevent keeling over after the second champagne-tasting. The sun is shining and the hues of green are my favourite color now! Cheers!

P.S.: To go all-excited-while-packing is a delight if your car does not break down half-way and you find yourself in the middle of nowhere in ten inches, looking like an oversized fashion-wreck carrying your carefully chosen 10 kilos of baggage by yourself to the next garage. But this is another story and will be told..... NEVER!

Am still caught in the memories of the fantastic party we attendend (Pinch me! What a night, what a wedding, what fantastic new friends, everybody so lovely!), trying to find my way back to reality, when we have to leave to Foz do Iguaçu which is in the very very South of Brazil.

It’s where some small water spectacle is going on: the Iguaçu Falls, which have a flow capacity equal to three times that of Niagara Falls. You know, your average waterfalls partly located on the Brazilian side, others already in Argentina. My eyes open wide when a helicopter is awaiting to take us on a ride (hello Michale Kors Ad!) to enjoy the spectacular view.

Oh yeah, and that was before we boarded a speed boat and - just because me and my heels can -grabbed a cab to enjoy South American Steak (the best!) for dinner: in Argentina that is.

Could hear pure disbelief in BF's voice when he rang me to ask: “Be honest: did you order some boots recently -AGAIN? Checked bank account and recent mail quickly to be totally sure, but well: “No - not at ......” oh wait!

Didn’t I have this really inspiring conference call with Mrs. Safinaz Baylav from übercool brand Fersengold just a week ago? Didn’t we talk for hours about girl’s stuff (heels amongst others) which make our world so beautiful? Didn’t I mention (probably a thousand times) that I would gladly skip dinner any day for the amazing shoes she designs?

Guess every gal in the world would have jumped as high in glee as I did, recieving that (huge!) box of amazing booties, but you have to understand. These shoes are not only designed to perfection, they also fit like a glove, walk like heaven, look like a million bucks and today’s cuties even HAVE A RED SOLE! Just asking, but Louboutin who???

And no, I will never ever abuse BF’s commercial adress for deliveries again. Panic in a voice for something so beautiful is so(!) not appropriate.

Boyfriend surprised me with a weekend getaway for my birthday and as I didn’t know where we were heading, I found myself in the car with 3 pairs of shoes (preparation is everything ladies) and 4 outfit changes, ready to rumble: the streets of Antwerp as it turned out.

It also turned out that brand-new yellow satin heels are not the best match for a city paved entirely with cobblestones, but since I had already rescued the 10 inch Charlotte Olympias (peeking out of my purse all day, guess they needed some fresh air anyway) and left the flats in the car (YES, I was vain), the options were limited. But hey! It was Belgium (Chocolate! Champagne!), and besides the lovely company of BF my new other yellow friends also turned heads.

This all happened before I was surprised with my first Chanel purchase EVER (which did not come in form of a compact powder or a nail polish scored at a mall counter), and also before I found myself - Chanel shopping bag and all, very lady like -leaning into a container to score some Svarovsky crystals from a dumped chandelier. But that’s another story for another day. Happy Happy!

Arriving back home BF surprised me with a sweet "post-Xmas" gift: a (huge!) Tim Walker book (my favorite photographer). Nothing better than recieving a gift (pre and post presents: THE BEST) unexpectedly, but this one is an inspirational bomb too. Having been so busy for 364 days in a row now, fumbling with sets and ideas every day to present my beloved high heels, this kicks off the very last creative boost needed. Meaning: instead of going straight to bed to cure post "Xmas-partying-high-heel-hangover- and having eaten too much too"-lag, finding myself baking cupcakes (yum: will totally "roll" into 2013) and enthusiastically decorating them to take the third-last picture for this very year "Tim Walker stylie".

And just as I'm in my own inspiration bubble, I receive a photograph from my sister capturing my 7-year old nephew in action. He just built his own set (a theatre stage with curtains, clouds, lighting and everything) focussing on: the only pair of heels my sister owns. Someone obviously got very inspired over the past few days too. Now, isn't that just the sweetest thing?

When I do my shopping (groceries; which, other than shoe shopping is just a necessity not pleasure) I'm mostly incognito (aka looking like (.....) insert swearword of choice please). There are a couple of "do's" to conceal the drama (sunglasses and hat obviously), and I always try to pull the trick the dude in Patrick Süsskind's "Parfum" practices and not leave a scent (aka disappear from everybody's olfactory radar). So it struck me as rather odd that while comparing cucumbers at my local supermarket I spotted this lady giving me "the look". Tried to escape to dairy section, but there she was again scanning me curiously. Must have major pimple or something, and started to doubt my choice of sunglasses (too summery?) or deodorant (did it fail?).

Quickly fled to the checkout lane, where stalker just happened to show up, standing right behind me. "Excuse me" she asked me in the friendliest manner, "sorry to bother you, but aren't you the girl from that shoe blog?" Was so puzzled that I almost fell over stacked baskets and actually had to think twice before I understood what she was talking about. Oh! How nice! (pause for reflection) really? "Yes"!

Can you believe this? Am blog-elebrity, and almost danced out of the Dirk. Whoopie, what an enthusiastic 15 minute shoe talk can do! Until I realised one tiny thing. Wasn't exactly wearing High Heels... Damn! Reputation may very well be ruined forever.

Walking Talking Question-mark

Walking, Talking, Question-mark

Like every girl I love suprises.
Like every girl I am super curious.
So like every girl I'd LOVE to know what's going on.
(Confession: took me some while not to write "I hate knowing something's coming up and not knowing what it is about").

No, no, no am not a control freak at all (note to self: do not lie): but since my B-day is looming and BF is behaving strangely, I NEED to find out what's going on. Am smart girl, so try to organize something myself in order to solve the mystery of when and where BF has planned.... well ... what? To all my trick questions he just smiles and answers "Don't bother". Grrrrrrr. Am trying to be even smarter and argue that I definitely need some hints so I can be prepared "heel-wise", and able to take a picture to capture delightful (aka surprise) moment. Just get another smile "You will see".

Aaaaaaah! To top anticipation I receive a mysterious text message to be "taxi-ready" today at 7.30. Damn! Still no clue what's going on! What to wear? Which heels to choose? Where are we going?

Am a walking talking question mark... uaaaaaaaah!
