It’s Magic!

It's Magic!

Amongst the talents my adorable Mom transferred to me (a lot of them linked to creating beautiful things and drinking impossible amounts of champagne while doing so), I totally lack the gift of her most forceful strength: a green thumb.

Being known myself for killing even the most resistant house plant in an instant, my mom transformed the backyard of our Salzburg home into some sort of Disney Land for beetles, butterflies, and bees (I know for a fact that champagne was involved...) and designed a blooming treasure chest where time seems to stand still and all trouble far away.

Although my understanding of a treasure chest would be more “Sex and the city” orientated (meaning that a huge shoe-closet full of designer heels is involved), I must confess that this little paradise totally lures you into forgetting to check your news feed. Instead this secret garden inspires to sit and read an actual book, jump happily between rose bushes for no reason, pick wild berries, recite Goethe and cut wild flowers all day long.

Actually with your heels off. If you ask me, that’s magic.

The Most Beautiful Day

The Most Beautiful Day

Oh weddings, how I love you! The cherry on a relationship, sealing the love-deal (hopefully) forever, being celebrated by a huge party gathering all friends... what’s not to like? It’s the only day that it’s not ridiculous to cry like a baby all the time (especially as the bride walks down the aisle) and where waterproof mascara and a hanky will do as the perfect accessories (nothing else will fit your tiny clutch anyway).

With two of my favorite ladies getting hitched this summer (countless mail-conferences about heels and back-up flats, dresses, bridal bouquets, locations etc), I think it’s only appropriate to share some of my favorite ideas for the big day. Am actually regretting that I’m not a) Martha Stewart, being able to decorate the most beautiful wedding settings all the time, or b) Owen Wilson, or Vince Vaughn so I could attend the fabulous event (of others!!!) more often.

Just one note: it’s not considered good manners to dress more beautifully than the bride, so tone it down a bit, and never EVER sit anywhere near the wedding cake. Just saying.

Fifty Shades of Real Grey

Fifty Shades of Real Grey

Have been trying my very best to settle into my new position of recovering shoe addict (no more "heeling and telling" every day). But what to do with all this new spare time?

Watching almost everything that's been nominated for a Golden Globe didn't really help, nor did replacing blog-addiction with watching series (Homeland was done in a weekend). Picked up cooking again, but found all cans in cupboard were at least one year past their expiration date (surprise). Waxing all body parts (including nose) in order to emerge as hairless goddess in 2013 got me stuck with a hot waxing strip on one leg and waxing stick glued to left hand for almost half an hour without help. (You try explaining that situation to emergency lady!)

So with all due respect to all of the distractions above, all I have really succeeded in so far has been gaining weight (Chinese take-away is the devil), annoying my friends with calls ("Oh, it's you again, didn't we just speak five minutes ago), and appointments ("Facebook events" are my new best friend). Merely fifty shades of real grey all together.

Guess someone needs new shoes straight away.

ExEx

While enjoying my Monday coffee, still in my PJ’s, a particular newsfeed popped up on my Facebook and caught my attention: “Things Happy, Successful People Choose to Ignore”. Oh wow! I definitely, have to know more about that, since I might have just taken the life of a gorgeous heel this weekend and doubt I'll be able to live happily ever after that event.

1. Ignore other people’s judgments.
Sure they mean: ignore people staring at you when doing groceries in heels so high every stripper in town would blush in shame. Yes! You go for it girl!

2. Ignore old troubles from the past.
OK: Stopping to whine about your Ex may be one thing, but stopping to bother about that lovely, LOVELY irreplaceable pair of Brian Atwoods you didn’t score in last season's sale another. I’m with you sisters.

3. Ignore each day’s little frustrations.
True. That heel you broke lately: a repair at your local shoemaker should just cost you 20 minutes extra. You can do it.
4. Ignore the necessary pain of hard work and growth.
Oh tell me! They must be talking about the hard work of sporting that tad too small shoe for sure. But I agree. No growth (in lengh) without that hurting heel. Better not think about it!

6. Ignore impatient thoughts.

Gosh, can’t you stop thinking about how to get your hands on Chanel’s next seasons stocking-heels either? That’s not impatient, that’s AMBITIOUS!

7. Ignore things that can’t be controlled.
Leading me to the fact that I (in excitement) spilled red wine all over carpet and SATIN. VULNERABLE. peep toes while watching the SAG awards last weekend. Control? ( _________ Swearword of your choice)

8. Ignore unfounded fears.
“My heel”.... and what if I can’t get rid of the stains???

9. Ignore the mind’s endless stream of doubts.
OK. :-)

I'm Very Gucci, How Are You?

Who would’ve thought that dedicating a year to high heels would be so much work? Living in Amsterdam and wearing everything but rubber boots is a challenge in itself (weather conditions! Cobblestones!). But apparently the blisters, ruined heels and self-imposed task of documenting everything (which admittedly has become a total addiction) weren’t enough for me. On top of it all, I just had to organize a heel sale too.

Needless to say, this kept me more than busy, not to mention sleep - and headless, for almost a week. First I blocked the entire hall and living room with 20 kilos of designer heels. Next I catalogued, priced, advertised, and caressed them (normal people would probably say "polished", but I think I’m past that). Did vaguely wonder: WHAT THE HEEL AM I DOING?!" when I found myself in a sea of shoes, shining soles and lovingly attaching homemade labels somewhere during the second night. Friends may have noticed I was slightly preoccupied; whenever they asked how I was doing, all I could reply was (variable): "Very Prada" or "Very Gucci". And finally, you, my lovely readers, may have noticed I forgot to put my own posts online twice this past week.... unforgivable and am very "Sergio Rossi"!

But with the big sale having taken place yesterday (thank you all for coming!), and now busy with the aftermath (everything in reverse) a question arises. May I be done high heeling for good?

You must be kidding me!

Shopping Queen

Don't you just love a good sale? Isn't it just the best to snatch up a piece you always wanted at half price (giggle giggle)? And doesn't every fashionista's heart just skip a beat when she can afford three items instead of one (high fives to wallet and inner bargain bitch!)? I'll say!

But when you're the one THROWING the sale and you have to watch as all your babies (aka heels) disappear into the shopping bags of giggling (ha, know why), happy new owners? *sigh*

I so loved today's gathering of heel-appreciating ladies who came to score designer shoes at a price that would've made Imelda Marcos go green with envy (and wouldn't have left the Philippines bancrupt), but have a confession to make. It was ME, who wanted to have them all, and I had to do my very best not to tell everybody that actually THIS particular pair of Gucci's was (spontaneously) not for sale anymore, or totally lose it and get in a cat fight over a pair I actually wanted for myself.

Had no choice. Became the shopping queen of my own sale. Oh, don't you just love sale? I so do. Giggle giggle.

30 Pairs of Heels need to GO GO GO!!!

If you're a heel-alista, shoe-oholic, lable-freak, size 37 (that's a size 38 with your heel cut off and a size 36 with thick socks), and reader of my blog: this is your lucky day. Even more so if you're a bitch on a budget who has always dreamt of being able to enrich your closet with some Jimmy (Choo), Marc (Jacobs) or Gucci (Gucci!) heels, but have always left your local heel dealer with a tear in your eye: because aren't they soooooooooooo expensive?

Am offering 30 pairs of precious (think "Lord of the rings" - Golom's "Preeeeeciouuuusssss") heels: some of them worn (with love), some of them brand new, for a price which will not only make your feet happy but your wallet too. Brandnew Choo's for EUR 179? Yep. Prada's for EUR 75? So right. But how???

Well, am throwing a heel-party in Amsterdam and if all the above fits any kind of your heel-personality or attitude: you are more than welcome. Simply like http://www.facebook.com/EddaLovesHeels, and share (my VIP list, and your entrance ticket) on Facebook and mark the 4th of November (1-5pm) in your agenda. 30 pairs of shoes need to GO GO GO and right in your closet.

Spread the word, and stay tuned for updates (and location) on this very blog. Am SO excited!!!!
