Sleeping Beauty

Don’t really know where the idea comes from that January is a quiet month. First of all there's a hangover from New Years Eve to cure (hammers in your head are everything BUT quiet), so it all starts with a “bang” quite literally. Then there are all the new year resolutions which keep you busy to NOT maintain. And believe me, a bad conscience is never really silent too.

Before you know it, final SALE has started everywhere (RUSH!), award season is in full swing (sleepless nights watching red carpet events on telly), and fashion week internationally tingles your fashion brain from New York to Paris and back (no rest for the wicked). Shew. I wanna be everywhere, soak everything in and “outsh” look pretty in heels by all means at all times, when my toes are screaming (not very demurely) out loud for flats and comfy wear.

Hope no one is going to bother me during the nap I am about to take. Totally “Sleeping beauty” style- a 100 years appreciated. Princes to kiss me awake, please queue up here.

BF had to lock

the car all the way to Paris (Oh! Paris! Fashion Metropolis! ) -the only reason I agreed to spend a holiday in France, -to not make me jump out of the car to dash into Bondini, (shoes!) Dior (shoes!) Louis Vuitton (shoes!), etc and spend all our holiday money on a single pair of heels. Very possibly on just one shoe of the new a\w collection only. Or, a brooch for that matter (souvenir!). Or, just simply to have inhaled the luxury odor of some fancy French brand by entering it’s flagship once.

With his feet on the gas pedal like Superman to rescue someone (erg.. well, moi indulging in all the superficial) we arrived in the middle of nowhere in the cutest village and most authentic small cottage in the heart of France to spend the next days calm and quiet.

Guess what. I managed to carry a “Baguette” anyway. It might not be the Fendi version, but it lingers in my arms just like it. And it’s definitely the only accessory needed in St Savinien on the first morning of your French holiday. Vive la France!

Weekend in Marbella

Weekend in Marbella

Boyfriend is booked to DJ in Paris (without me, grumblegrumble), my friends are off dancing at some festival and everyone else is in bed sick, so it seems am alone with my heels for the weekend. Full of self pity (sorry dear high heels) am already picturing myself in dress-code PJ's, going bananas with only buddies available (Ben & Jerry's that is), when I remember that invitation for fancy dinner at FWM's (friend with money).

Very well, a sleep-over bag is packed in no time (so stylemma PJ is solved quickly too) and the stilettos are eagerly waiting to be walked anyway so "hello weekend", am ready to rumble.

24 hours, a six course dinner and a fantastic evening with best party crowd later (Thank you FWM!!!) am considering myself a very happy gal, lying by the indoor pool, looking at a garden in Marbella (Trompe-l'œil that is, but who cares), enjoying 25 degrees. Now, where's my fan, and isn't it raining in Paris?

The beautiful MM (Mademoiselle Marjolein) is one of the few who understands that when you’re talking about “cat ears” attached to shoes, it’s clear that you’re speaking of a) Marc Jacobs or b) Charlotte Olympia. Whenever I see her, she has the coolest and hottest things (hence the understanding). We met through her boyfriend (brother of VCF, see ealier post “Welcome to the future”): Finnish design to perfection and very (!) fashionable. They met, very romantically, exactly the day after NYE, when he and I had discussed the matter that he would be totally ready for a new relationship.

The following get-together, MM sported a look worth a million: stylish boyfriend, Chanel boots, Marni necklace, Ann Demeulemeester T... a look to turn heads for sure and sure to turn gals green with envy. Over an incident of someone shuffling her Prada bag over the ground, us looking at each other almost instantly saying “No one kicks a Prada!”, the friendship was sealed. And if I forgot to mention: MM is studying fashion marketing in....*sigh*.... Paris.

This time though, she surprised with probably the sweetest accessory you can think of. Designer: shelter, brand: supercute. Price: priceless. Definitely drawing more attention than the Donna Karan handbag “moi” tried to show off with. Plus “Madame Cookie” (aka dog) has a (matching of course) collar instead of a handle to get carried around. Am envious. Dogs are totally the new IT handbag. Donna, move over!
