Fashion Soul Sisters

Fashion Soul Sisters

When it comes to inspiration, I've never really run short, especially if it’s shoes, fashion, or accessories that we’re talking about. And the desire some girls seem to have, to have exactly the same purse, heels and dress as their colleagues or friends has always struck me as odd. Where’s the charm in being identical? So I laughed my a**, ergh, heels off when I met up with BF Connie (who you know by now is a fashion wizard) and her Austrian friend Andrea:

All of us showed up with a little fluffy, furry (vintage) thingy, some statement jewellry (no sparkles no glory), and mixture of similar shades. As though we had all received the same briefing before, which of course, we hadn’t. You can probably imagine what our discussions were about too: an endless girl fashion talk without any full stops or commas (but a lot of exclamation marks indeed). Oh, and the odd "vintage" boyfriend theme of course, but uhm, that's so not exciting. Feel as though I’ve spent some hours in a washing machine, program fashion spin cycle, conditioner: 100% more inspiration. What a nice afternoon! If you will please excuse me now: have some serious shopping to do!

Being back

Being Back

With Obama back to his duty (aka saving America), I am luckily able to switch back to my challenge as well: heels. And what could fit today's topic better than something else that keeps coming back (not talking legislation but fashion): the '80s. Maybe you are amongst those who SWORE never ever to go back and make the same fashion mistakes all over again (remember the perms, the shoulder pads, the legwarmers?), but HA: show me one gal (myself included) who hasn't worn leggings since then and didn't dream about that 2011 Balmain jacket with enormously exaggerated shoulders.

And now we have the pointed (white!) heel back in all shapes and variations. From Céline to Manolo and Jimmy Choo: there's a pair in almost every collection. Couldn't resist and had to try. Was astonished how well they work really, could wear them with almost everything in my closet (yes: the leggings too), and can't think of a single reason not to stock up on such a versatile item. Oh, besides that it's almost winter, which is bound to be wet and ugly and they'll never stay white for long.

Must confess am also tempted to get a perm again. And a boob job too, just to be able to say: Samantha Fox, watch out!

Halloween Leftovers

Halloween Leftovers

Pretty much every day can be Halloween, mainly when I look in the mirror after a long night out partying... uaaaaaah! Really? Is that me or Freddy Krueger? But other than sometimes scaring myself (no asking for trick or treat needed...) I'm not that familiar with the tradtion. Well, celebrated it in NYC once, pretty much embarrassing myself by being the only one without a costume (immediately reveals that you are a tourist), but I was told that Halloween is only an opportunity for everyone to legally dress like a hooker so thought I'd keep it down.

Like the idea of "decorating a pumpkin" though, and even better since I saw someone carving the Chanel and YSL logo in these vegetables. So decided to try just that this year! Boyfriend will be delighted (and for sure understand the hint) with the hallway softly lit with my favorite brands. (Hmm...would Tiffany be too difficult to carve?). In my enthusiasm I totally forget how damn hard these orange beasts are. I mean seriously: it's impossible without cutting a finger, (or worse... slipping and cutting a toe!!!). Am giving up, it's just too frustrating.

So what to do now with the bloody leftovers of my serious failure? Pumpkin soup? Or pumkin pie, or both? Guess I'm just gonna chew on my Jimmies. Grrrrrrr.

If you're a heel-alista, shoe-oholic, lable-freak, size 37 (that's a size 38 with your heel cut off and a size 36 with thick socks), and reader of my blog: this is your lucky day. Even more so if you're a bitch on a budget who has always dreamt of being able to enrich your closet with some Jimmy (Choo), Marc (Jacobs) or Gucci (Gucci!) heels, but have always left your local heel dealer with a tear in your eye: because aren't they soooooooooooo expensive?

Am offering 30 pairs of precious (think "Lord of the rings" - Golom's "Preeeeeciouuuusssss") heels: some of them worn (with love), some of them brand new, for a price which will not only make your feet happy but your wallet too. Brandnew Choo's for EUR 179? Yep. Prada's for EUR 75? So right. But how???

Well, am throwing a heel-party in Amsterdam and if all the above fits any kind of your heel-personality or attitude: you are more than welcome. Simply like http://www.facebook.com/EddaLovesHeels, and share (my VIP list, and your entrance ticket) on Facebook and mark the 4th of November (1-5pm) in your agenda. 30 pairs of shoes need to GO GO GO and right in your closet.

Spread the word, and stay tuned for updates (and location) on this very blog. Am SO excited!!!!

Should I stay or should I go?

SALE signs are up everywhere across the city and as always this is a temptation I find very hard to resist.  Usually I don’t even allow myself to go in to town, just to “have a look”, because I know the outcome.

Bags and bags later, a huge dent in the bank account but with a stupid grin and a couple of heels richer I used to return from my shoe-sales-havens, giddy with pleasure and guilt.
An event which can only be overcome with bubbly. And lots of it.

Being the clever girl I am, I figured this time I will avoid the luring call altogether and just indulge in the shoes I already have.
You know: get them out of their boxes, marvel at and caress them and discover (as usual) that there are even pairs I have never actually worn yet.
Then I will team them up with dresses, make new combinations, put those I have forgotten on show, and just to be safe, have a sip of Prosecco (aka celebration).
It’s not that I NEED a new pair after all, is it?
IS IT?

Note to self: “you shouldn’t even think about”………
Question to reader: “Should I stay or should I go?”
….*quick thinking*…. check…..*nobody’s saying anything *….

Oh that was easy! Temptation wins! See you later!
