Golden Globes Baby!

Golden Globes Baby!

The Golden Globes 2015 held yesterday gave Hollywoods' A-listers (or as Tina Fey puts it: “a bunch of despicable, spoiled minimally talented brats”) their first opportunity to dazzle and shine the highly anticipated first red carpet of the year. And like every year, everybody is talking about dresses, accessories and killer bodies, neglecting the fact that the most important tool to walk down the carpet is of course the perfect pair of heels.

E! ‘s attempt to embarrass their guests with the stiletto-cam rather than the manicure-cam didn’t quite cover it, loads of hassle to lift all the layers of fabric to hit that damn little thingie on the floor. But then again, most of Hollywoods' royalty channeled “Old Hollywood Glamour” (read: fashion-retro instead of fashion-forward) which is all about long, floor- and heel covering evening gowns.

The shoe trend of the evening was a classic black pump followed by the nude sandal (soooo 1950-2014) so it's Lena Dunham who wins my favorite shoe moment by kick-ass carpet in a red pointy number.

In other fashion news: Amal Clooney's gloves probably have their own twitter account by now, Jared Letho’s messy braid will put hair stylists out of work (DIY!!!) and Conchita Wurst snatched up the 'most glamorous and best dressed' title of the night, thanks to a green velvet dress which looked very “Out of the Woods” and something Snow White would craft from the drapes straight of the dwarf’s mansion.

But why not: it’s all a fairytale after all. Happy Golden Globes shoe-moments!

Happy Birthday moi!

Once a year that day comes around, highly anticipated until you hit 29, after that swept under the carpet and glimpsed at warily, mixed feelings and all. The Birthday. Since I never really grew up and numbers only matter to me when it comes to Sunday’s Lotto Draw, I will celebrate getting older no matter what though.

Nothing big you know, Gianni will come out of the closet (aka Versace aka my dress), Coco is a staple on the guestlist (in form of Chanel make-up), BF will bring over Guns and Roses (or maybe Metallica - depends on which T-shirt mood he’s in), and am pretty sure at least one of my girlfriends will sneak in Mr. YSL (in form of a clutch).

Well then, I guess it’s not pretentious at all to make a wish for my special day, hoping that Karl somehow may show up as well. In form of the hottest booties out there this fall. Hello? One person with white hair at my party is pretty much enough.

Hot or Not – The Flatforms

Hot or Not - The Flatforms

Whenever the fashion gods provide us with new trends my heart starts to dance the Rumba (aka flutters in excitement), and my creditcard starts to quiver (aka fear). Usually ready to follow the fashion mantra of every new season with glee, my dancing might come to an abrupt stop this summer. I should probably be glad that after years of squeezing my toes into sky high heels and platforms (to elongate appearance), designers are now blessing us with more comfortable gear. But I have to say ladies: I’m not.

Here comes the “flatform”, and with it a look that comes very close to Godzilla after he broke his ancles and attached two pieces of chunky wood to fix them. Surely you'll be able to walk these shoes for hours, but be assured too: it won’t look very elegant - at all. So, hmmmmmm. Am very interested in the opinion of my lovely heel-sista’s: would you wear them ladies? What do you think.... hot? Or not?

P.S.: My creditcard stopped shivering and it’s my heart now experiencing a sudden bout of fear: Just had a look at the footwear of Céline for next winter...
