A day in France

A day in France

A weekend getaway which does not imply packing suitcases neatly for a flight (in other words a legitimate fear that overweight baggage will cost as much as ticket or a pair of nice heels on sale) always evokes kind of a fashion-Tourette. More, more, more it is, so I step into our car for a surprise trip, trunk stuffed with heels, back seats covered with clothed hooks (another happy Tourette: no creasing, no creasing, no creasing!).

What a bliss that the destination chosen turns out to be the heart of the Champagne region, which -with all it’s luscious greens- just perfectly fits an equally coloured extra long skirt and delicately printed blouse (could be grapes, who knows?). A game of “Where's Wally” well played! The heels of choice, a dream in creamy suede, which are perfect for a day strolling vineyards. A heel high enough to bog down in Moët & Chandon soil (all worth it), low enough to prevent keeling over after the second champagne-tasting. The sun is shining and the hues of green are my favourite color now! Cheers!

P.S.: To go all-excited-while-packing is a delight if your car does not break down half-way and you find yourself in the middle of nowhere in ten inches, looking like an oversized fashion-wreck carrying your carefully chosen 10 kilos of baggage by yourself to the next garage. But this is another story and will be told..... NEVER!

Feels like summer!

Feels like Summer!

Winter mood is always “nesting-bird” chic and definitely a comfort to someone suffering from fashion Tourette (new season, new colors, new outfit, new shoes, newnewnew). Muted colors, feathers and fur, PJ trousers and who cares if you hide your toes in Birkenstocks (socks still on) hibernating on the couch with loads of wine.

With the first rays of sun though, not only flowers are blooming but the fashion spirit awakens again, and after the annual panic attack (NEED TO WAX, NEED PEDI!) the desire to slip into open toes and sleeveless shirts reappears, ditching the winter coat for a very long time. YES!
Except that some of this years summer trends are quite winterly: rusty tones (70-ties), feathers on jackets (Burberry), shawls everywhere (Rock star attitude). Sorrynotsorry said all designers and I don't care either, as long as I can take the most appreciated accessory of mine everywhere: the SUN!

Will refuse that Birkenstock trend though which some idiot decided was hot in SS2015. Will save it for next winter (new season, new outfit, new shoes, newnewnew!!!!!!!!).

Pop of color

Pop of Color!

Almost every decent fashion blogger I know has at least one spring post that begins with the words: “It was such nice weather this weekend that I couldn’t resist matching my summery mood with the brightest colors in my closet.” Quite original right? Later in the year it will be all about how to sport white and how it’s such a fantastic contrast to your tan.... but who can blame them!

With the first flirty sun beams out, I caught myself (guess it’s a natural fashion instinct) removing all the spider-webs from my peep toe boxes, lovingly dusting yellow satin and “attention blue” leather, when some frenzy kicked in. All of a sudden the living room looked like some clowns had quite the swinger party and left without their clothes and heels (question to myself: do clowns wear heels?): but wow! How cheerful!

So here you have it: am coming out of the closet as well. As a sucker for the first pop of color of the year that is. Let’s wait until the sun has done it’s job and I have a nice tan shall we? I almost can’t wait to write about how gorgeously white pumps support summery glowing skin.

A Black Day for a White Shoe

As you must have realized by now, we Austrians love traditions, no matter how weird they might seem. Mainly they are all an excuse to gather, eat, drink, chitchat and spend as much time together as possible (but hey: that's all part of the "celebrate the moment" tradition, which I invented anyway - aka am first member with gold card). Somehow (after all the eating and drinking and chitchatting hours around Xmas) there's an event which completely snuck into my schedule of shining everyday during this year in heels though: our annual hike through the local moor.

Yeah well, I can find some aspects to appreciate: friends, kids, torches and Glühwein in tow we will wait till night (my favorite time of day) to dare on our big trip into the dark, wild and black moor. And if you don't feel like an extra in "Lord of the Rings" by now: I definitely do. There is simply no way to look stylish while breaking frozen puddles of mud, and my attempt to somehow look at least a little fancy is failing awfully (as it does every year).

Just ruined my Escada fake fur boots for good, and well: shall we go back to just gathering, eating, drinking and chitchatting again?

Anniversary ♥

Anniversary

Six years ago I came to the Netherlands to show my portfolio around (it was pure coincidence that Amsterdam was first on my international list, guess cheap ticket equals more shoes....) and bumped into this guy with huge sideburns and glasses. Our first (heated) conversation was about Rammstein and when he insisted on bringing me home I thought: "Dear god, please don't let this be a cheap excuse to get invited in for some coffee (aka try to steal some kisses). I remember the outfit AND the heels I was wearing that night, plus that he simply didn't. Try. Anything. At. All.

Which left me (obviously) with only one thought: WHAT THE HEEL IS WRONG? Well. To make a long story short, we did kiss at one point and three months later I found myself moving a truck filled with heels from Austria to Amsterdam to live with the most extraordinary man I'd ever met. Guess circumstances totally justify some cheesiness:

I loved you then
I love you still
I always have
I always will.

Silly fool who thinks I'm referring to my (nonetheless lovely) Escada boots.
Happy anniversary love! ♥

Cheap thrills

Walk-in closet is almost bursting… have been doing a great job over the years of collecting not only shoes, but apparently every single piece of clothing I have worn (or mostly even: haven’t worn). I need to store everything in boxes, in which I never seem able to find anything, so all the beauties are sleeping, waiting to get out one day.

Well, this very day will be tomorrow.

Have decided to drag myself - in flats (eish!) - and man a stand at the IJhallen flea market (Amsterdam Noord) for the day. The perfect way to make room in my house, and other gals happy with cheap thrills. We’re talking (weren’t that cheap back then) Dior (limited pieces), YSL (one piece) and a lot of unworn Mango, Zara etc.
As we speak, I’m busy separating Designer from High street items.

Hmmm, shall I really get rid of my Escada suit? Worn once, needs to go (heart bleeding). The Armani blouse then, keep, keep, keep, *sigh* must go too.
And my *sobb* Dolce & Gabbana trousers (way too big, why did I buy it in the first place?)……. *sobb*sobb*.
Need Prosecco immediately to wash down pain of parting (Am secretly holding aside never worn Marc Jacobs skirt and Jonathan Saunders dress though… or should I…….). Never mind. If you are curious and up for scoring some cool “new” things you all must come: will be selling shoes too!
