Full Moon

Full Moon

There are a couple of events that cause everybody to post practically the same picture simultaneously (can't help but think how funny it would be if all the gals in the city would buy Louboutins and share at the same time). Yes, of course, they're natural phenomena: rainbows mainly (comment: awesome), extremely heavy bouts of rain (comment: sucks) or, like yesterday: a beautiful full moon over Amsterdam.

Within minutes moon struck pictures from all over the city popped up, and I couldn't get out of my sweatpants (Oops, confession! Seldomly wear couture at home...) and up in the window (comment: brrrrr!) quickly enough to capture the moment too.

Now the only thing I have to deal with is that the whole street probably thinks I'm some suicidal lunatic and people have called 911 to make sure I'm rescued. I wouldn't mind. A picture in some slim-fit white vest (Yohji Yamamoto please!) and some nice guys leading me downstairs in heels would deliver a great post as well.

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday!

Fog is hanging in big misty clouds and everybody is asleep. Everybody? No. One house is lit with tons of candles and you can hear people singing inside:

Happy Birthday to youuuuuuuuuuu,
I know you don't speak shoe,
don't fuss around like I do:
one of the million reasons I love youuuuuuuuuuuuu!

OK, that would be me singing, but with my sister's big day finally here (welcome to the Forty and Fabulous club!) and her having had a fridge full of bubbly installed in the living room (fantastic concept!) you can imagine coming up with some Pulitzer-worthy that rhymes is a bit of a long slur... eh, shot. We've been celebrating for three days now and am just incredibly happy to still be able to stand in my (incredible) high heels and to have gotten my lovely sis out of her average Birkenstock's (will mark today red in agenda) and straight into her Bruno Magli's. B-day-licious and am so proud of her! Very good reason to pop open another bottle of bubbly. (Don't worry, am not going to sing again).

Happy Birthday my sweet! Love you to bits!

Prepping for Cannes (part two)

OK. Having obviously failed in preparing cute bikini figure by running (yeah, I know, should have subscribed to gym earlier this year, but rather than in shape, all I ever got there was a fungus…) I thought maybe should cover up cheesy skin with tan.

Knowing that it’s all about light and illusion, it seems like a good idea to achieve a darker hue, which will cheat over love handles, cellulite and spider veins.
No, spray tan is not an option: have had (and written about) enough orange in the past few days, and am sticking to things I know (from the 80ies I must confess): The sunbed.
So, how did it work exactly. You throw a coin in a machine, put on some ridiculous looking goggles, blue light turns on and instantly you are swimming in a sea of your own sweat while listening to bad tunes for 30 minutes, right?
Ah! And don’t forget to turn after half of your paid time, otherwise white stripes will ruthlessly reveal that you are probably a season ticket holder.

Oh shoot! Did I say white stripes?
Suddenly feel very much like an episode of “There is one hidden mistake in the picture - can you find it”. If you know what I mean, I will buy you a drink in Cannes. Wearing a full body condom.

The female side of men

The female side of men

It started with a conversation between two guys in a bar I overheard yesterday.

“Dude, I met this girl and really: she is different from anything I have ever experienced (other Dude nods.) “You know she is really funny and witty and we really had this great time together. So intense, man: she really gave me the feeling that I was special.” (other Dude nods.) “I can really tell you that there was something going on between us you know, but now she hasn’t called in like three days, and I really don’t want to push it like: you know bothering her and all. (other Dude nods and sip’s beer)
“So here’s the thing: shall I call her? I mean does that make me look desperate?
Or will she think that I am obtrusive? I mean, if she is into me, which she TOTALLY gave me the impression to be - than she would give me a ring right?” (other Dude nods) …

There it was. The female side of men.
(Seems we are not that different after all…)
With a big smile on my face I couldn’t help but think about my dear friend “Schöner Mann”. This could have totally been a discussion between him and me. (Me nodding and sipping beer :-))

Since he is really a man of the ladies (he will call you within three days though),
and since we are going to celebrate his birthday tonight
(plus he is someone being able to channel his female side big times (in the best meaning)), I am totally inspired to through him a girly b-day experience.

You think it’s maybe a little over the top to decorate
a grown up man’s B-day cake with a shoe?
I don’t.
He is reading my blog.
