Nice Day for a White Wedding

Nice Day for a White Wedding

Boyfriend rocked the crowd of a wedding once more this weekend and I more than willingly chose the role of 'the groupie' again. Off we flew to the beautiful Pantellaria, a tiny island located on the left side of Italy’s bootie shaped landscape (can’t be a coincidence that the best heels come from Italy can it?).

Down at the beautiful Pantelleria Dream Resort, for four days it only revolved around the big event, which basically meant the wedding guests were enjoying cocktails at the most amazing locations, enjoying the stunning view at the pool, exchange experiences about their sunburns and wondering if the dresses and suits they brought would fit after the over consumption of Italian pasta (the 'no carb policy' has definitely not made its entrance to the Italian lifestyle yet, thank god!).

Nothing beats the vibe at a wedding: love, happiness, tears and dances are shared throughout all generations and you always come home with tons of new friends. In my case a pair of Givenchy's, which one of the attendees wore (and with which I totally fell in love with), and the inspiration of a new shoe brand I didn’t know yet (business card of the lovely designer is still in my lost luggage...)

So it’s ultimately clear: when I’m grown up I want to be a wedding crasher officially. In some Italian heels next time, no doubt!

Pop of color

Pop of Color!

Almost every decent fashion blogger I know has at least one spring post that begins with the words: “It was such nice weather this weekend that I couldn’t resist matching my summery mood with the brightest colors in my closet.” Quite original right? Later in the year it will be all about how to sport white and how it’s such a fantastic contrast to your tan.... but who can blame them!

With the first flirty sun beams out, I caught myself (guess it’s a natural fashion instinct) removing all the spider-webs from my peep toe boxes, lovingly dusting yellow satin and “attention blue” leather, when some frenzy kicked in. All of a sudden the living room looked like some clowns had quite the swinger party and left without their clothes and heels (question to myself: do clowns wear heels?): but wow! How cheerful!

So here you have it: am coming out of the closet as well. As a sucker for the first pop of color of the year that is. Let’s wait until the sun has done it’s job and I have a nice tan shall we? I almost can’t wait to write about how gorgeously white pumps support summery glowing skin.

Marc O’ Polo recently did a photo-shoot picturing gals as what they wanted to become when they were growing up. You know: princesses, actresses, the wife of Robbie Williams (my generation), or Harry Styles (today’s generation)... aka the usual girl stuff. I held an Oscar (the only accessory shiny enough to catch my attention) and they titled the whole piece of art “I'm a blogger now”.

Hm. Couldn’t help but wonder if that's actually an achievement. I mean everybody seems to have a blog these days, right? It’s so popular to write and share personal insights that it’s almost cool not to have a tumblr, wordpress or twitter account or own youtube channel. Plus forcing your boyfriend to take your picture in different outfits seems to me to be the new strain on relationships (*sigh*- I miss the good old "you didn’t put the cap on the toothpaste" debate).

But since it seems official now, I have a reason to run around with my laptop all the time (isn’t that soooo Carrie Bradshaw - aka totally outdated), pose randomly on the street (in incredible heels no doubt) and have my picture taken everywhere. And yes, these things really keep me busy! So what are you blogging about?

Billie Rose for Sacha

Billie Rose for Sache

Sacha, an established (shoe- of course) brand in the Netherlands recently invited ambitious bloggers nationwide to design a pair of shoes, and I had the honour of interviewing one of them: Billie Rose. This 24-year old lady from Amsterdam has been sharing her daily wardrobe inspirations online for three years now - luckily supported by her equally fashionable boyfriend who takes the pictures (am jealous indeed: these days the mere mention of "photo" or "shoe" are enough to send BF running...).

In cooperation with the shoe company, her design (a little bit of Balenciaga boot, a lot of bold buckles) is the perfect friend to brave any Amsterdam fashionista's worst enemies: cobble stones (aka ruined heels), physical exercise (aka cycling), and bad weather (please, let's not talk about it). With chicks like Alexa Chung and Cara Delevingne taking the lead for her design, Billie Rose developed something very practical for a sturdy, yet feminine generation. In which they can take on a festival terrain as self confidently as they impress the male gender (cool factor!), and therefor: Chapeau!

Eat this, Cara and Alexa: I’m wearing them first!

I'm a Lady Now!

I'm a Lady Now!

Ladies, I did it. When I hit the keys on the first of January this year to write my first blog entry, I had 366 days ahead of me (aka a HUGE blank piece of paper if you like) and no idea where the journey would lead me. My heel closet was a beloved mess, my babies all eagerly waiting to be featured and little did I know how to embed photographing and writing in my everyday routine. Realizing that I just hit the mark of writing my 300th post in a row (absolutely a reason to celebrate as this year only counts 366 days, so no more "round" numbers to cheer on): there couldn't be a better moment to pamper my feet with yet another special pair of heels. The myth, the legend, the ultimate treat: the one and only red sole there is: Louboutins.

So after 300 days (closet and blogging super strictly organized) and with my new purchase now officially consider myself a "heel" grown-up.There are certainly things you can't do anymore while wearing Loubies, right? Such as sitting any other way than with your legs neatly folded, fooling around with stupid toys for blog entry, or shaking that bottle of champagne before opening (and drinking straight out of it...): no, no! I'm a lady now! Jichaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Now where's my glass?

First Date (what to wear, what to wear?)

First Date (what to wear, what to wear?)

First impressions go a long way, and therefore we ladies all know how important it is to dress appropriately for a first meeting. Not too sexy for the first date (don't forget to shave ladies and leave the granny panties at home...just saying...), neatly for the first job interview (thoroughly weigh the pros and cons of statement accessoires, you don't want your future boss wanting to kick your YSL bag due to jealousy) and heels of course.

But what if you have kind of a blind date with a girl (!) ? Am meeting one of my readers (a first!) and am in denial. It feels like meeting a friend but am also a little nervous: for sure the "safety shaving" will get me nowhere here. What if her heels are higher than mine and I want to kick them due to jealousy? What if she thinks that I'm more "Desperate Housewife" than "Sex and the City"? And what to wear, what to wear anyway?

Still in my cuddly sweats and undecided (OMG, I'm so gonna be late), I think I'll just go for the statement accessories that never fail on a first date: a smile and a red rose in the buttonhole.

Happy Birthday blog!

Happy Birthday blog!

Half a year ago, totally unprepared, without any concept whatsoever (still dizzy from celebrating New Years Eve), I quickly arranged a picture with one of my lovelies (read heels), the leftovers from the night before (Moët obviously) and lots of party glitter: my first post.

I remember as if it were yesterday, sitting with my friends Mamma Ulli and Pappa Stefan earlier in 2011 to tell them about my idea to write an everyday blog about my heels, and what’s happening while wearing them. Without their encouraging words (“If anyone should do it, it’s you”, and “I would totally read it”) I would probably never have gotten my (amazing, but) lazy bum out of bed, in my shoes, and in front of a camera.

183 photos and stories later, I now have an editor (best editor I could ever wish for), an advertising company (Brandbridge, I love you!), busy working out my own website, blowing my mind with business ideas, and a photographer (who doesn’t know yet that he will be shooting me the upcoming weeks ). Not to mention every cool shoe store in town on speed dial.

And still: 182 (not counting today) heels waiting in my closet to be worn: 182 stories to go, written by life.
Reason enough to get the Guccis out and celebrate.
Happy (1|2 year) Birthday blog!
