Although the Dutch tend to clog almost every European Highway with their campers when going on holiday, they also like to spend their vacation in so called Center Parks: agglomerates of look-alike bungalows in the middle of nowhere with the charm of leftover 80ies commune attached. A place for pulled up socks in Adidas flip flops rather than decent inches and therefor an absolute no-to-go for moi. I thought.

Because in February, when the weather is as mournful as the sight of someone sporting shower sandals as decent footwear, 1.000 hipsters gather at exactly that place to celebrate for three days and nights. DJ’s, music, art, fashion, the art of being and celebrating yourself and with others and anything, EVERYTHING goes! If only I knew, but next year: Next year I will bring my very own inflatable plastic palm tree, a matching parrot and definitely those flip flops.

Won’t happen again that I’m almost breaking my legs in that slippery bitch of a poolside while dancing wildly to 80ies music.

Obsessions Of October

Can’t believe that this year has only two months left to go, the “dark side” of 12 months is officially knocking on the heel closet: winter. Time to focus one last time on sandals and open toes WITHOUT the socks granny knitted for you last Christmas and which you never wore until... well *sigh*.

Along with the bonus-card we probably all just scored at the local tanning salon (well: a salmon sun burn definitely fits this season hottest hue), it helps to focus on the bright side, which is very achievable by making every pink shade you can find part of your daily game.

Nesting and cocooning for the rest of the year with a little bit of bright color won’t do any harm I suppose.
Our own (more than 50 I’m afraid) shades of grey will be companions for a long time anyway. And if there is a Carven wool coat for warming up........

When my friend Tim (Ayres, who you know as "photographer-to-be-the-one") asked me to help with some lines in German (aka voice over) for a befriended artist, of course I said "yes". Am glad to help, and with a new pair of heels in tow (very "studs in the studio", I like!) couldn't be more excited. We meet at 10 in the morning, and I'm a little anxious that I might sound like Joe Cocker (think whiskey voice) at this very early hour.

But the lovely Jos van Merendonk (who has been working exclusively with only one particular shade of green for the past 23 years) couldn't be more relaxed with everything. He simply fixed the microphone to an empty Lascaux bottle and didn't mind when during our Dutch-English and German croaking: the neighbour's vacuum cleaner went on, the garage next door started their washing facility, or my telephone kept ringing (yeah, sorry, didn't know how to turn it off...) Wow. Green pretty much seems a totally relaxing color! Might consider that for my next heel purchase... for today my yellow ones fit just fine.
