The best thing about September might be that you can indulge and dream about all the new season keypieces while it’s still warm, and you don’t have to bother how the hell you should pull off that sheer dress when it’s actually -5 degrees. I also always (!) kinda fall into a sort of color frenzy (The new red! The bright blue! The “why not” green!), secretly knowing that after a month of trying hard to twerk all that perky hues my mind (together with extremely slowed down bodily functions due to the COLD!!!) settles in a sort of achondroplasia (read: fashion hibernation) as well.

From that moment on, black will dominate my wardrobe, and socks and boots will become a staple while I’m already dreaming about Spring (and new sandals) yet to arrive. So why not safe all the hassle and focus on BLACK from the very beginning, even better when all the delicious trends come in a desaturated version anyway. Regardless the season: black will always stay the new pink, and to sport a little gothic chic this winter is anything but depressing (or in my case: laziness). Hope you have fun with my Lookbook!

Since having seen the movie about Diana Vreeland, am obsessed with her flamboyant allure and personality. And what better to do on a grey Sunday than dig into a world full of glitz, glam, and outstanding visions. Helps to distract from other Sunday options (aka FINALLY doing the laundry) too. Having left her mark as the first fashion editor of all time, am now studying all her covers for Harpers Bazar and Vogue - which she branded forever as mirror of fashion reflecting the Zeitgeist ("You can see the approaching revolution in clothes. You can see everything in clothes"). Loving it! Am tempted to jot down all her quotes: no, even better, print them in huge letters and hang them over bed: "You gotta have style. It helps you to get up in the morning. It's a way of life. Without it you are nobody."

And (sorry, couldn't help but replace the word "dress" with "shoe": but BOTH are so right): "A new shoe doesn't get you anywhere. It's the life you are living in the shoe and the sort of life you had lived before and what you will do in it later." And that from a lady who claimed (also VERY inspiring haha!): "I'm never dressed until lunch".

Ah, Mrs. Vreeland thank you so much for today's inspiration. Now will never again leave the house without sporting couture, ladylike gloves, satin slippers and an attitude.

Hoofddorp (a small place near Amsterdam where the cow and the cow bid each other goodnight literally), and I have never been on good terms. It started when I moved to the Netherlands and needed to get a stamp to make me a “legal citizen”: half an hour of travelling, one hour of waiting, all for nothing, because I couldn’t prove I had a job in the Netherlands. To GET a job, I was told I needed the stamp, so you can imagine the dilemma.

My next HD experience was FOR a job, trying to work there (still no stamp) at a fancy magazine. Turns out I’m better in concepting, visualizing, composing, writing, layouting and modelling all by myself rather than fumbling and cropping pre-chosen products to fit onto one page.

Last chance for Hoofddorp: checking out the Headquarters of something which finally seems to fit my 007 FP (read fancy profile): Mission Primark.

Never had the opportunity to check: until today. Phew! 3 huge shopping bags later (after one hour of fitting and half an hour standing in line at the charger), I come to the conclusion Hoofddorp is not so bad after all. Now will you employ someone still without a stamp please? Need to cover the debt of my new outfits.

Starting a new blog month is always exciting. I never know what the month will bring (heel donations to the usual address please...) and it also feels so fresh to start from scratch again, with an empty folder - no pictures saved yet... so much space for heel-licious new stories.
Today it feels even more special though. Not only because I am wearing the most beautiful YSL heels (Autumn|Winter collection available at Paul Warmer - I so wanted something really classic and enduring today) but also because it will be my last day posting in the lovely community of Tumblr.

Yep, as you can see my own website is now online: me, the girl with a passion for heels (read charmingly chaotic), will (with a little help from the fabulous Brandbridge team) finally turn professional. Which means nothing else than still stumbling in high heels and writing about it, but moving on to another platform (Am actually a little nervous, can you tell?).

Dear  loverly ladies and followers it's time to change your bookmarks (god knows how that works)....
See you you from now on, on this page!

We all know about Adam and Eve and their life in Paradise.
However, I believe the story with the apple must have somehow gotten mixed up over the years. In my imagination it totally makes sense that it was not an apple that started all this temptation business: it must have been a heel.
Why would a woman long for an apple? And how could she possibly lure Adam into something she knew is so wrong to lust for?

Unless it was something like: Eve longs for a very expensive pair of heels, is tempted to buy them (over-expensive, i.e. forbidden), gets second opinion from man (aka asks for his credit card) to get a taste of absolute paradise. Adam (not short on imagination either) must have pictured Eva in that perfect heel (adding an accessory to a fig leaf can’t be wrong): so was easily convinced.

Since then (as punishment for having given in to temptation) woman has to experience pain running in high heels and man will always struggle to find 10 inch heels anything but utterly sexy. Makes sense, right? Oh, and of course it must have been a YSL heel: the perfect, most seductive shoe on earth…. until…..

Just heard that Hedi Slimane has taken over the creative rule in “Eden” (aka YSL headquarters). And that the new collection will be back to basic: very very pure and simple. Even the “Tribute” won’t be reproduced anymore.
Oh, dear Hedi: please do not let my YSL paradise run dry: we girls so need that little bit of temptation!

Am a huge fan of Dutch fashion design and lucky to have scored tickets to AIFW. Ready to totally shine in the designer’s honour (and after frantic browsing - aka fashion meltdown - for the appropriate garments), I am armed with YSL’s that  actually deserve a golden carpet not a casual red one (am wondering if it will look awkward if I bring my own…).

The luxury of a cab is very much appreciated to reach the Westergasfabriek in style (not blown and torn apart by the wind: weather god does (again) not support fashion god). Fashionably late as always and dropped off by grumpy chauffeur who makes it very clear that he couldn’t care less about my glourious appearance, I find myself 30 Euros poorer and in the middle of nowhere..

With no clue where to go, no fashionable crowd anywhere to be seen: it starts to rain.
As in pour. Clutch and hands over heels to protect the delicate leather of my Paul Warmer goodies, I look more like a frog with golden stop lights (did not only forget google maps printout but umbrella as well) as I hobble to the closest place dry enough to save my babies from a sure death by drowning: a snack bar.

Am totally missing anticipated show’s. Frustration. Need reward.
Apparently it’s fashion versus something as golden and as French as my heels: fries.
Duh.

Yesterday’s ADCN Gala (the most prestigious Dutch advertising event, celebrating the year’s best work) was everything I love. A beautiful venue, red carpet, inspiring people and fantastic music… and surprises!

Like discovering that a lot of the gorgeously dressed and utterly pretty women I speak to are reading my blog… Needless to say, a non-stop chatter about passion for heels and styling is the result: I so love it!

Armed with 12 inch heels, pen and camera, I ask two security guards where I can find a more private place to think about what to write about this very evening.
Turns out that both are fluent in “heel” and “photography”. They immediately guide me to the backstage area and I find myself in the bustle of artists, musicians and staff.
Backstage Concertgebouw: this is new, and obviously where the real party is at!
Not only do I get an exclusive photo session, dancing backstage on the tables of the “members only” cafeteria, but for the rest of the evening I am escorted by my two private body guards who keep saying: you don’t need a badge, you have us now.
Unreal!

Waking up this morning, still wearing the outfit I left the party in (minus the shoes, those were tucked safely in their boxes before I fell into bed), I look down at the T-shirt I swapped with a friend (silk blouse turned out to be the wrong choice for a dance floor too steamy to take pictures) and discover the label.

I read “No shit”.
How appropriate.
