Happy New Year!

The long weekend after the New Year was so peaceful and inviting to do nothing that I did exactly that. Polished my heels, ate the rest of my Mom's cookies, slept in, cleaned out the Champagne bottles and before I knew, duty was calling again, and 2016 had officially started.

What a bliss to look back at the old year and give a warm welcome to 356 new days, completely free to be designed in each of your favors.
I hope they will be filled with new ideas, inspiration, laughter, health and happiness - plus the odd new shoe - which will carry you to great new places and adventures.

Have a fabulous start into the new year Shoemonsters!

Thank's to my friend Edwin I find myself caught in the Icebucket madness as well. As if there wouldn't be enough water from above in the Netherlands anyway but it's for a good cause, so all fine.

I'd like to nominate my favorite heel designers Brian Atwood, Ruthie Davies and Charlotte Olympia to join the challenge next, so I won't be the only idiot ruining a beloved pair of heels (Brian, you might go barefoot as well, I know suede leather loafers are a killer to clean!).

Please note that besides all selfish posting fun, donating is crucial to fight a terrible disease, so give as much as you can: your next pair of heel purchase can wait (a little). Here we go, and sorryyyyyyyyyyy shoes!!!!!!

Only one day left in good old 2014 and I find myself at the most gorgeous, yet coldest location ever. While jumping up and down in the park of Klessheim, Austria, I can’t help the thought that this very moment pretty much resembles the extremes of this year.

I’m not a big fan of quotes (unless they contain the words “high heels” or make me giggle (like “DON’T READ THE NEXT WORDS...... “oh - you little rebel I like you”.....), but if there’s something that I learned to be true, it’s that it’s worth to fight for your beliefs: no matter what. There will always be doubters, haters and non-believers but there will also always be YOU to prove them wrong. And YES, you can do it (even when you are freezing your toes off). And YES, keep your dreams as high as the heels that you are wearing.
What 2015 will bring? I have no idea, but I am excited to share it with you. Thank you for being part of all sore feet, blisters, highs- and lows measured in heels 2014.

Happy Holidays my dear shoelovers, I hope we will meet again in 2015!

Sweet love sunshine! How amazingly you reset the “winter mode button” (nesting, over-consumption of dark chocolate while watching TV series, goal: do not move a single toe in a heel) to seemingly long-forgotten beloved activities. Laughing for no reason for instance, or singing loudly while biking in way too tight skirts and indecently high shoes (without any complaining).

You make it so easy to pick up cardio training again (shopping that is) and dare everyone to wear anything but sophisticated grey. The glass of wine enjoyed way too early in your lovingly embracing beams accompanied by the calories 2000-4000 (deep fried snacks): joy, not sin! All the people I don’t even know who greeted me in the supermarket with a happy smile while sporting that family size pack of toilet paper: you make it happen. And the red you put my bank account in (due to all the cardio work): well: isn’t it the color of the season?
Dear sun, thank you! Happiness. Now. Boom.

Guess last Sunday was the first reminder that Holland actually only knows two seasons: Autumn-Winter-Autumn-Winter. Nothing wrong with that if it also meant channeling all the great a/w looks brought to us by creative designers. The lingerie PJ-look at Louis Vuitton - a dream come true to wear at zero degrees, the petite Dior hourglass satin heels - fantastic to wear when the sky shows all the symptoms of constant diarrhoea - not to forget all those lovely sensitive white to off-white shades which are great to rock on a dirty, muddy bike ride (that includes make up: a pleasure worn for 5 minutes then turned into a clownesque watercolour).

Well, well, ladies I assume the time has come to keep it real (but optimistic) again. Some happy (old) comfy knitwear, a splurge of (cheerful) colour and the odd unbreakable cheapies (why do only bargain shoes last so long?) will be our companions for a very, VERY long time from now on.

That or I quickly phone Marc Jacobs to send over his driver with some suitcases full of his awesome couture.

It’s a very g

ood thing that I’m not writing my posts with ink and on paper, as today's would be a total mess. Am crying my heart out while typing, but it’s all tears of joy and happiness!

After nine months of awaiting her arrival, Louisa Luna Emilia finally could see the light of the world yesterday afternoon. I am o.v.e.r t.h.e m.o.o.n. with excitement (whoops- here come the tears again). Forget the hype about the royal baby (George who?) there’s a princess born in Amsterdam and all congratulations go to the happy family and especially the mother who -by the way- sported high heels until delivery and Jenny Peckham polka dots way before Kate Middleton.

Lou might be tiny now, but her almost 2800 grams of weight are NO DOUBT indicating that she will grow a shoe size 37 later in her life, which makes her without a question the heiress of my entire shoe collection one day. Jipieh!

And just because I’m so happy, I celebrated the big day with a new purchase for her future collection. Lou, you better start saving money for a decent shoe-closet now!
