When it comes to travel, none of todays (and yesterdays) great thinkers seem to run short on the perfect quote. You've probably read them all and I will spare you repeating the “It’s not the destination it’s the journey that counts” - of self proclaimed Facebook philosophers. Because what traveling most of the time really means is: VACATION! With a big “V” for Vanishing from routine and and an even bigger one for Vivacious Vagrancy!

The pareo is packed, the suitcase filled with sunnies, tank tops, bikinis and just that right hippie bag (which might fit the odd flip flop when tired of running on heels) and off I am for a road trip to France. Destination: gluttony Valhalla (another “V”!), ambition: just doing nothing for the next ten days (if lazily flipping through magazines, sipping rose in the sun, feasting on sea food and pretending to be a great guitar player at the pool counts as nothing). Paradise? Yes please!

But before leaving I have to get one thing off my chest: Why did none of the “The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step” thinkers ever mention the utter importance of proper footwear to begin with? No one wants to look like a jerk on something that important.Toedeledokie!

Whenever it comes to the daily routine (mostly done in a rush between a still blurry eye and the first coffee, tooth brush still in your mouth) of picking your outfit for work, opinions couldn’t be more diverse. Unless your place of work provides you with logo sweater or you're working where I do (spotted a full fleece head-to-toe dinosaur suit recently), it will always come down to the question: comfy or business?

In the language of a heelalista of course this translates to choosing the high heel department or staying grounded in flats. Although I'm still 100% sure that only a decent inch looks cool while changing the toner of the copy machine, and will distract from the fact that you probably a) did not have the time (again) to iron your blouse or b) IF you did, immediately spilled coffee over it, I must confess that this season so many chic semi-high alternatives are out there that it’s kind of hard to resist.

Especially when you have to jump on your office chair in full disgust quickly upon discovering that you're not the only one busy at work: mice are also. So what is your office 4.0 solution ladies? Flat or fab?

Coming down with the flu can be a beautiful thing. Completely delusional (aka on med’s) sneezing your way through all the toilet paper in the house, you just lay back and dream your way through sickness. All things captured in semi conscious stage become part of that dream naturally: I had a nightmare about a naked Miley Cyrus (which I have to confess totally inspired today’s picture) - but hey, we had a word about that tongue thingie too-, went for a stroll with Bryan Cranston of Breaking Bad to talk Emmies and somehow I managed to sit front row with Anna Wintour as well (all summer fashion 2014 looks like a trip on acid to me now).

Realized after two days that I was cuddling the September issue of Vogue (instead of BF) and wasn’t wearing anything but my cute booties. Well, the rest was covered in countless wet handkerchiefs anyway.

But oh! Look at THEM! Well, if they are not worth getting out of bed, on the mend and back to reality (aka walking them...) I don’t know.

I was so pinked-up, sporting pink from head to toe these past days, that BF must believe he's dating Barbie now, or Nicki Minaj at least. Well ok, maybe the bright neon lipstick was a bit too much (oops, maybe smootching him all over his moustache before he entered a gay bar with his DJ buddies on Saturday night wasn't that good idea...) as was me indulging in rosé wine and Cosmopolitans only (-very pink aka present headache!).

But can't deny that this color therapy totally worked: am feeling as vivid as a scattered pigment in a Jackson Pollock painting or one of the polka dots in Yayoi Kusama's art: utterly alive. Can't be a coincidence that I'm drawn to everything colorful now, even doing the laundry (pink Vanish Oxi Action) and vacuum cleaning (bright yellow vacuum cleaner) seems fun. And posing in a darn cold studio? Well, blame it on the hot spring collection available at Daniele Dentici that I do so with a bright smile and the greatest pleasure.

I say spot on for color in any shape or form and for what it's worth: I will have another Cosmo now.

Long live Photoshop!

If I hadn’t been down with the flu I totally would have told you sooner that I was approached with the request to do an interview for a Dutch magazine called (translated) “Shoe Vision” at the beginning of this week. This came completely out of the blue and utterly flattered and excited I accepted.

I do now find myself freaking out a little at the request to include a “portrait picture” in the article though. I mean, hell yeah, the legs are in shape. Shaved, polished, rubbed with baby oil every day, caressed with Dr. Scholl feet lotion and spoiled with attention. The face: not so much (I wouldn’t recommend Dr. Scholl as a facial treatment anyway).

This is quite the dilemma. Botox will only show after a couple of days (the interview is scheduled for tomorrow), a chemical peel will make me look like a baboon’s butt, and I totally forgot about my (self-fabricated) haircut which only works in combination with a rubber band and a pot of fudge. In a panic I focus on outfit (lovely Ellen Benders dress today) and shoes, but I’m afraid this won’t do the job.

However, after having photoshopped today’s picture (at least one form of shopping after two days of illness, I did get a little swept away :-)…. I am pretty confident there must be a Photoshop app that can retouch my (still) red nose and the odd wrinkle for my portrait. Problem solved, Shoe Vision, here I come!
