Let’s Play Outside

Let's Play Outside

Just when I was ready to come out of my (self-chosen) hibernation and start bothering about spring trends (aka sleeveless dresses in graphic patterns), winter has struck back with a vengeance and covered Amsterdam in a white and silent blanket: snow! It's only a couple of centimetres that we're talking about, but as the Dutch never seem to be prepared when it comes to winter (except when the canals are frozen - read: skating boots) a whole city has now turned into a "sleeping beauty" - winter fairytale.

It's so quiet you may very well hear the ice flowers grow on your window (goodie bag from mother nature, delivering A/W trend "floral patterns" straight to your home - AWESOME!), and utterly tempting to stay inside indeed. Can't resist taking flowers out into their natural environment though and enjoy a "white" carpet for once.

Let's play outside, shall we?

Today's story was enthusiastically written before slipping on icy ground (damn you, leather soles!) and getting myslf a well deserved big bruise. Will never utter a bad word about the Dutch and their winter gear ever again.

Snowflakes Keep Falling on my…Shoes

Although I promised myself not to fuss about the weather on this blog anymore (a theme equally recurrent over this past year as my lousy attempts at exercising): I obviously can't resist. With the first snow arriving in the Netherlands - and everybody talking about it anyway- I just can't help myself.

Love it, when the whole world (aka Amsterdam) is covered with a blanket of white, soft flakes, even though am fully aware that this also means the end of high heeling as I know it. Have literally been living in thermo-underwear for weeks already, but now case is taken down to feet as well, meaning rubber soles (for grip), rubber boots (to prevent wetness) and *sigh* inches reduced to the minimum so as not to slip and break a hip early in my career as a "high heeler".

With snowflakes continuosly falling on my shoes, am tempted to call 911 (aka personal "salt sprinkler"): "This is an emergency, need you 24/7 to take care about my path being snow free and 10 inch friendly". Oh, or never mind. It's just too beautiful.

Breakfast In Bed

Breakfast in Bed

"Early bird catches the worm" my mom used to say, and I was grumpy with her for that quote for almost all my teenage years. I never found anything glorious nor fortunate about getting up early (albeit I love the sunrise, but that's when you are coming home after partying, and another story). I'm kind of a "blair witch project" (aka REAL horror) without having at least a liter of coffee (which generally takes until 12.00) too... Call me a diva if you want to, but it's only obvious: Am a night person, utterly useless in the morning.

Having said so, it just happened that I was asked if I would be interested to do a TV interview about my addiction to heels. Kind of a home-story, showing how I live, babbling about my passion. Couldn't be more excited. My babies! On TV! Full color! How great! I mean, will have to do some serious preparing (shall I wear the Olympia's or the Atwood's? Oh, they would fit so great with my new outfit, maybe a bunch of flowers in the background... kind of blurry, what kind of flowers, decisions, decisions ...)

Erg, sorry, what did they say was the title of the program again? "Breakfast in bed?" Ah! Interesting. Meaning like... filming like... at like breakfast TIME?
Oh! Blair witch project the sequel, anyone?

High Heel Music Baby!

High Heel Music Baby!

Living with a man who is as crazy about music as I am about shoes has its advantages. Don't have to worry about the latest hip tracks (BF already knows them), hot insider tips ("Oh, Van She's new single? I'm friends with the singer, have the studio version, not released yet, wanna hear?), and I've become used to headphones as an actually pretty fashionable accessory (well, I look like Mickey Mouse wearing them but still....).

Only thing is that there's a constant battle in the house over which collection is taking up the most space (records vs heels).. But with my HIGH HEEL SALE coming up and the collection spread all over the house am pretty sure I win. Until tomorrow that is, when I will put the beauties in boxes and on display for your pleasure. And guess what, BF has made a playlist on Spotify, especially for all you lovely heel-alista's who will be coming tomorrow, and those who care as much about inches as about some cool supporting tunes.

Wohooo: turn the music up ladies and the high heels on: am already dancing!

Rumor Has It

Rumor Has It

Rumor has it that wedding preparations can put quite a strain on you and having had my fair share in some of them, I totally agree. Designing invitations for a sweet befriended couple kept me busy for two nights years ago. While putting ribbons among 150 tiny salt and pepper shakers (premature rheumatism was the result), and taking care of the flower arrangements for yet another wedding left me allergic to Callas until this very day. Held a speech once too: was so nervous that I spilled all the precious champagne as my knees were shaking like a 9.0 on the Richter scale. And the tremolo in my voice would have made Maria Callas jealous. *sweat*

BUT! Isn't it lovely though? All the anticipation for the big day and all the romance and excitement? Couldn't help but be delighted to offer a helping hand for my friends Kim and Alex's wedding, starting with taking a few test pictures for the big day coming up. Aaaaaaaawh: the love of the two and their sweet commitment during the shoot struck me so sweetly that I almost fell out of my Prada's and straight into the "must get married too" bubble. Plus am pretty sure all photos have a "love struck" Hamilton blur now. *sigh*

Am quite tempted to propose to BF tonight. And start the search for the perfect wedding shoe immediately.....

If you're a heel-alista, shoe-oholic, lable-freak, size 37 (that's a size 38 with your heel cut off and a size 36 with thick socks), and reader of my blog: this is your lucky day. Even more so if you're a bitch on a budget who has always dreamt of being able to enrich your closet with some Jimmy (Choo), Marc (Jacobs) or Gucci (Gucci!) heels, but have always left your local heel dealer with a tear in your eye: because aren't they soooooooooooo expensive?

Am offering 30 pairs of precious (think "Lord of the rings" - Golom's "Preeeeeciouuuusssss") heels: some of them worn (with love), some of them brand new, for a price which will not only make your feet happy but your wallet too. Brandnew Choo's for EUR 179? Yep. Prada's for EUR 75? So right. But how???

Well, am throwing a heel-party in Amsterdam and if all the above fits any kind of your heel-personality or attitude: you are more than welcome. Simply like http://www.facebook.com/EddaLovesHeels, and share (my VIP list, and your entrance ticket) on Facebook and mark the 4th of November (1-5pm) in your agenda. 30 pairs of shoes need to GO GO GO and right in your closet.

Spread the word, and stay tuned for updates (and location) on this very blog. Am SO excited!!!!

The Brotherhood of the Travelling Prada’s

The Brotherhood of the Travelling Prada’s

Spring 2010. I happened to fall into a shop in Salzburg, “by accident”, and (surprise) immediately in love with a pair of Prada’s. They were totally out of my reach, and although I spoke about them non-stop for 2 days, I eventually came to peace with the fact that I would never own them.
Returning to my hometown in the summer of that year, I “accidentally” fell into the same store again during a stroll with Best Ex. I KNEW they would be there (waiting for me), on sale even! But alas, *sob*sob* I still couldn’t afford them. Whatever happened to destiny, and true love always finding a way and all that? Grrrrrr.

October 2010. BFF Nica arrived from Vienna to celebrate my B-day in Amsterdam. With her came a parcel which was a group gift from my homies. Opening it, my eyes went wide in disbelief. Best Ex had set the heel-hot line on fire to make the Prada’s I was so longing for travel SBG-VIE-AMS and right on my feet! Aaaaaah! Brotherhood of my travelling Prada’s: you so rule!

August 2012. Prada’s and me are still in love and right now travelling from the Netherlands back to where they originally came from. *Sniff* (romantically touched): destiny SO does exist. And so do the best friends in the world.
