A|W 2015 Lookbook: Beautiful Blacks

The best thing about September might be that you can indulge and dream about all the new season keypieces while it’s still warm, and you don’t have to bother how the hell you should pull off that sheer dress when it’s actually -5 degrees. I also always (!) kinda fall into a sort of color frenzy (The new red! The bright blue! The “why not” green!), secretly knowing that after a month of trying hard to twerk all that perky hues my mind (together with extremely slowed down bodily functions due to the COLD!!!) settles in a sort of achondroplasia (read: fashion hibernation) as well.

From that moment on, black will dominate my wardrobe, and socks and boots will become a staple while I’m already dreaming about Spring (and new sandals) yet to arrive. So why not safe all the hassle and focus on BLACK from the very beginning, even better when all the delicious trends come in a desaturated version anyway. Regardless the season: black will always stay the new pink, and to sport a little gothic chic this winter is anything but depressing (or in my case: laziness). Hope you have fun with my Lookbook!

Love is in the air, sale everywhere!

Love is in the air, sale everywhere

Isn’t it soothing to know the same procedure kicks in every in December? The air is filled with love and anticipation, lists and giftcards for Christmas are written, and all your thoughts are focused on delighting your beloved ones: your ... ergh....feet of course!

Haven't you been waiting long enough; dreaming about that pair of (unaffordable) 10 inches,
admiring those ____________ (fill in heel designer of choice) from afar?

Well, it’s SALE everywhere now (retail makes it so easy for us shopaholics), and with all that glitter on Christmas trees comes the fabulous opportunity to not only decorate your house for the big event but your 10 best buddies (your toes) as well. Those Xmas gifts for others? Time to start practising that extra charming, extra excusing smile for when your Auntie unwraps that nail-polish remover (245 EUR saved), and your boyfriend gives you the look after receiving the two boxes of tooth picks (another 289,40 EUR saved) you lovingly chose for them.

Just shrug and smile: “Sorry, I spent it on myself” (petting the shiny Marc Jacobs\ Saint Laurent\ Paul Warmer’s you are wearing). It’s Christmas yeah: the time to love and pamper. Especially yourself.

Disco! Disco!

Disco Disco!

If there were an award for smudging mascara all over every single pillow, waking up still in full disco gear (heels included) after yet another night of partying, I probably won triple gold this weekend.
do my thesis
With Discox, SheilaE in concert, and the MTV awards in town (Beliebers, you can stop screaming now, the Bieb is still cuddling his Teddy bear in Rio and did not show...) there was no rest for the wicked at all, and how could there be when the glittering light of just another disco ball seduced everybody to keep on dancing?

Snoop Dogg (celebrating his 20 year anniversary with a special DJ-gig), Miley, (visiting Pancake- and Coffeshop, I don’t know what got her more high...) and Katy Perry (rooaaaaaar!), they all rocked their soles (Sheila won in stunning 10 inch heels) until the morning hours, and Amsterdam got its 3 days of fame for sure.

Wohooo, disco, disco! If you’ll excuse me now, have to catch some sleep WITHOUT my heels on for once.

P.S.: Sorry for the quality of today's picture: couldn't help to keep it real and catch the atmosphere at 4 o clock in the morning at Leidseplein after the official afterparty of the afterparty...

War and Peace

War and Peace

I know that a lot of ladies are at war with aging and would love to stop the "age clock" (aka battle against gravity and sagging). Would be no exception, were it not that I have just discovered that a fabulous B-day weekend does wonders: am glowing and grinning and radiating as though I just got back from a Spa-weekend (with a lot of Prosecco instead of tea though).

Celebrated in "Zürich" (ha, that's what the passport was for...) with all my friends (answer "A" from yesterday) and am tempted to call boyfriend "magician" from now on, as he pulled all imaginable stunts and tricks to make sure I was spoiled and pampered.

Got the most amazing presents too and all of them are perfect for my very private B-day after bash: A stuffed cat (cosy feeling), vintage champagne (no relations to age please), high heels (Paul Warmer so rules!), Dostojewsky's "Crime and Punishment" (so I can never again confuse it with Tolstoy's "War and Peace", haha!) and - well, PLEASE relate to age - reading glasses.
PurrPurr... War? Am totally at peace with everything.

Thank you everybody!

Walking Talking Question-mark

Walking, Talking, Question-mark

Like every girl I love suprises.
Like every girl I am super curious.
So like every girl I'd LOVE to know what's going on.
(Confession: took me some while not to write "I hate knowing something's coming up and not knowing what it is about").

No, no, no am not a control freak at all (note to self: do not lie): but since my B-day is looming and BF is behaving strangely, I NEED to find out what's going on. Am smart girl, so try to organize something myself in order to solve the mystery of when and where BF has planned.... well ... what? To all my trick questions he just smiles and answers "Don't bother". Grrrrrrr. Am trying to be even smarter and argue that I definitely need some hints so I can be prepared "heel-wise", and able to take a picture to capture delightful (aka surprise) moment. Just get another smile "You will see".

Aaaaaaah! To top anticipation I receive a mysterious text message to be "taxi-ready" today at 7.30. Damn! Still no clue what's going on! What to wear? Which heels to choose? Where are we going?

Am a walking talking question mark... uaaaaaaaah!

O.H. M.Y……. D'SQUARED2

O.H. M.Y. ... DSQUARED2

Believe it or not, I didn't buy ANY heels in Germany due to too tight schedule (aka giving priority to meeting up with my real friends instead of the ones that come with a heel and end up in my closet). Accordingly, my hunger for some beautiful, exciting designs (aka possible new friends) is as huge as having been on a diet for too long. Very much Pavlov's dog, except I'm not drooling and fantasizing about chocolate, but feeling the usual tingle in my feet (read: heel fever).

Have no choice but must rush to my number one heel dealer Paul Warmer, the sugarfactory for those who are addicted to sweets (the leather version). And am so not disappointed. Here they all align: soft leathers (YSL!), shiny heels (Guiseppe Zanotti!), studded beauties (Balmain!) and OH MY DSQUARED2: almost D.I.E as I'm handed today's stunning pair by lovely PW crew (they certainly know what makes a girl happy!).
Aren't they just designed for a princess?

Am in heel heaven and must rush home immediately to tell prince (aka boyfriend) about it... it's my birthday in two days... might urgently add something to my wishlist.

Forty and Fabulous

Forty and Fabulous

The latest edition of fashion bible Vogue is a hymn to ageless style, featuring Rachel Weisz as it’s ambassador. “Why life begins at forty” the title reads, and - utterly intrigued - I find myself having read 196 pages cover to cover in no time.

Since I have started using Crème de la Mer and am more tempted than ever to rewrite the genius Coco’s “Fashion fades, only style remains” replacing “fashion” with “beauty” I am curious though.

What IS the the actual difference between now and being in my twenties?
Hmmm… (…staring at gorgeous Giambattista Valli heels while thinking).

Found genius example! In my twenties I would probably have thought Mr. Valli was an Italian intellectual. Or Pinocchio’s father.

Turning 30, I would have done my math and not mistake his mentor Capucci with Cappuccino anymore, lusting after GV’s work from afar, wondering where to get his adorable shoes (trip to Italy anyone?).

Fabulously forty, I simply know that Papa Giambattista is available at my trend-setting heel dealer and go there. Dear Rachel, you are totally right: No one can say this isn’t an utter improvement!

Next step, fifty and fantastic: am totally ready!
