Boyfriend was invited to DJ in the royal city of (brit) pop and of course the cheeky girlfriend (me) was eager to pop by too to swing some bootie and heels.

I hadn't been in London for over 15 years (I suppose shopping British designers online doesn't count as a proper “visit”...) so I was eager to see how the city has changed. To be safe for all occasions (high tea to high street), I packed five pairs of heels for three days: you simply never know when the Queen might call and you have to drop by to say hi.

Luckily she didn’t because I was way too busy squeezing in that audience at Selfridges, Shoreditch Vintage heaven, the spectacular collaboration of United Nude with 3D wizard Janne Kyttanen at Regent Street, write some postcards to my mom and not to forget: play groupie for my man.

For sure one thing hasn't changed throughout all the years: seeing the sun rise on the way home from the latest club, plus the urgent feeling to come back very VERY soon to this stunning city.

London, I love you!

Happy Céline!

Happy Céline!

One of the most outstanding trends this season is no doubt the artsy coloring, appearing on the catwalks from Celine to lovely Chanel. Happy, wild strokes of brushes gone wild everywhere, and since it was Easter this weekend where the tradition of coloring things is a beloved routine, I thought I might very well just unleash my inner Picasso too.

Though eggs seemed a little eighties to me, and I have bad experiences hiding them enthusiastically the night before Easter Sunday (the smell of a rotting egg: not the fanciest scent in your home indeed!), I turned creative.

And what could boost the desire to find a hidden treasure more, than hiding a pair of self-painted new heels anyway? So lets pop the tubes of your coloring box before popping the champagne to celebrate ergh... why not just yourself and creativity? Bring it on gals, and Happy Céline!

January Obsessions

Obsessions in January

Spending most of the month indoors definitely has its advantages. Loads of time to daydream about new heels, and not going outside ruining them due to the never-ending soaking (or sucking, you choose) weather conditions. Perfect also for tucking into uplifting literature (my cousin gave me the most amazing book which will help moi emerge from hibernation as sleek and lean beauty goddess). Not that I haven't done any exercise yet, but hello: spiritual preparation will do half of the trick and otherwise: statement jewellery (see above) always distracts and keeps eyes away from anything wobbly beneath your neck.

Have also been very busy preparing for the Oscars (if you haven't already, please go see "Amour" and "Beasts of the Southern Wild", both utterly touching), and ditched champagne for once, replacing it with tea (am obsessed now, carrying little Pickwick bags in my pocket everywhere, call me tea-oholic).

And since the weather is nothing but grey it seemed quite logical to develope an utter crush on the black and white Spring/Summer trend (my favorites: stripes and graphic patterns). The latter might also totally help (conceal, conceal, conceal!) if I stay the lazy bum I have been and don't loose that stone I actually intended to. Ah, who cares: as long as my shoe size doesn't increase as well and I can still fit into those beautiful Jil Sander boots, I will be a happy gal. Cheerio!

The Power of Flowers

The Power of Flowers

Everything they say about flowers is true. “They make up for a lot”, prevent grumpiness, say more than words, have a soothing effect with their beauty.

For guys this is paradise and the easiest way to spoil the person they adore, want to convince, apologize to, surprise or seduce. Never heared of a gal not reacting with a smile, delight, or offering favours guys like in return. (Am talking the odd foot rub, and allowing him to watch sports, bringing him a beer without being asked ladies, what did you think?). Oh, just one thing guys (if there are any reading this): just make sure you find out which flowers are your lady’s favorite. There is nothing more embarrassing than causing a sneeze attack because your beloved is allergic to lilies, or choosing roses when your gal is into ranunculi.

Having said all that, am no exception myself. Am in love with flowers, and always inspired by them. It doesn’t even matter if they come from the florist. Am also very into the heel-printed version (Charlotte Olympia anyone?), the Marc Jacob “Daisy” perfume, the Mary Kantrantzou dress. Or Erdem. Or Dolce and Gabbana (deep happy sigh). Easy thrill!

Find out very quickly at today’s shoot that there’s a reason why I’m more into the domestic version of any green though. Lying in a muddy puddle, surrounded by thistles, facing a cramp is really rather unsexy. Might order the Charlottes to make up for my effort right away. Because everything they say about flowers is true.

Picnic pleasure

Weeks ago a friend already suggested having a picnic instead of after work drinks.

You see, the Dutch simply love to chill on a blanket, just drinking rosé and hanging.
During my first years on Dutch soil I wasn’t a big fan of this tradition (mainly because you have to take off your shoes which totally ruins overall appearance plus you always seem to find someone’s foot either stuck in your nose or spilling your drink).

But by now I would say I am fully integrated (that also includes riding a bike no matter what the weather conditions and sporting flats due to the same): so not afraid not afraid of dress code grass stains (green) and dashes of wine (optionally red or rosé) anymore.

Despite my good will it’s impossible to frolic outside though these days. It’s so rainy and cold (we are in MAY for peep-toes-sake!) that you could immediately order new ovaries if you were to sit down somewhere. Luckily there’s always the opportunity to unfold a blanket INSIDE and “play” picnic instead. Safe and warm, you can leave your heels on and watch bad movies on the side.
Purple Rain anyone?
