Pucker up, ladies. Smooches abound every spring, making their mark everywhere from shoes (Charlotte Olympia) to sunglasses (Jean-Charles de Castelbajac). Saint Laurent‘s Hedi Slimane doused an 80s-tinged ruffle top and short black wrap dress with an allover rouge lip print. Inspired by Yves Saint Laurent’s 1971 Vichy Chic collection, the smackers were a somewhat surprising embrace of the house’s history, and the high street (H&M: Sweaters! Zara: Scarfs!) just couldn’t wait to follow.

If mouthy accessories (anyone in risking a big lip?) are more your taste, look no further than my all time classic: a Lulu Guiness bag. Ah! I could have one in a different shade for every day. Or maybe that Diane von Fürstenberg I-phone cover? Or maybe that classic Chanel lipstick? Bright kisses (printed all over the object of your desire yourself) never run out of style. As does my shoe favorite of this month: Sule Orhan’s “Easy rider”.

How to: THE DENIM GUIDE

My 80ties nightmare is a pair of high-waist mommy jeans, worn with a perm to distract from the most unflattering ass ever. But that didn’t stop me from following the nineties denim trend with a stone washed carrot-shaped piece of navy fabric accompanied with the shoe-of-the-hour: jogging highs. (Brrrrrr!) Since then I have been a little careful following “denim trends” and it’s ambassadors (unforgettable: Britney Spears and Justin in a unisex tip-to-toe indigo combo), but this season there’s no way around it.

Denim is back as strong as its woven texture and if you invest smart, you will have at least four good reasons to buy some must-have shoes to complete the outfit du jour (which anyway is THE reason to follow a trend, don’t you agree?). Nothing wrong with a jumpsuit worn with a statement heel now (my favorite for a lazy day, no other styling needed!) or a cute little denim flowery skirt to channel your romantic side (peep toes, booties, sandals!). And although I will have to get used to the legitimate wear of flare jeans, I need a good reason to purchase clogs (back on the runway and hot!).

Best of it: you can mix & match all of the above because the greatest thing of any denim trend (throughout the years): it goes with everything!
HAVE FUN!

Cotton Content

Boyfriend almost broke his hip while slipping through Berlin (black ice and snow), another friend almost couldn’t make it from LAX to NYC (snowstorm), and it seems that all of Europe is dealing with snowy conditions. Meanwhile in Amsterdam: tulips are already growing everywhere..

I really shouldn’t complain about the lack of snowflakes dancing their way from the sky though as the side-effects are always deadly for foot gear of any kind (salt, muddy puddles, three layers of pantyhose, no peeptoes!), but must confess I miss the winter magic a little. It seems quite unnatural that I haven’t had at least one opportunity to go outside and freeze my feet off while attempting to create a wintery setting. Well, to feature today’s gorgeous “snow-white” heels, had the brain wave of unleashing the content of three bags of cotton balls to at least have a snowflakey effect. (Eat that NYC!)
> Now I can complain about the mess I created and which needs to be vacuumed, and the phrase: “cotton content” keeps popping into my mind while typing. A little bit like “cat content” all this: fluffy and fun, but utterly useless. Snow, you can come now!

Stores have been playing ear-torturing Christmas songs since October and I suppose hearing Mariah Carey yodelling “All I want for Christmas...” three months ago should have set off all alarm bells early. Code red to get ready and prepared for the big day - probably the only event I can’t postpone (my last minute favorite) or arrive fashionably late for.

But with a shower of online styling suggestions, gift-tips, make-up tutorials (Miley or Kartrashian look this year to delight family?) and all streets and windows festively illuminated, even I can’t avoid the ticking deadline. Less than a week to go before Christmas and I’m still running around for presents (ideas anyone?) fumbling with paper and scissors (any volunteers to wrap them for me?) and am really worried that the only “red nosed” under the Christmas tree will be me now that Amsterdam has found out what fun Advent markets are (aka consumption of Glühwein!).

Well, I guess all I want for Christmas is a little more time on my hands. And that terrific pair of L’enfant terrible heels of course.

Marc O’ Polo recently did a photo-shoot picturing gals as what they wanted to become when they were growing up. You know: princesses, actresses, the wife of Robbie Williams (my generation), or Harry Styles (today’s generation)... aka the usual girl stuff. I held an Oscar (the only accessory shiny enough to catch my attention) and they titled the whole piece of art “I'm a blogger now”.

Hm. Couldn’t help but wonder if that's actually an achievement. I mean everybody seems to have a blog these days, right? It’s so popular to write and share personal insights that it’s almost cool not to have a tumblr, wordpress or twitter account or own youtube channel. Plus forcing your boyfriend to take your picture in different outfits seems to me to be the new strain on relationships (*sigh*- I miss the good old "you didn’t put the cap on the toothpaste" debate).

But since it seems official now, I have a reason to run around with my laptop all the time (isn’t that soooo Carrie Bradshaw - aka totally outdated), pose randomly on the street (in incredible heels no doubt) and have my picture taken everywhere. And yes, these things really keep me busy! So what are you blogging about?

I can’t recal

l any summer in the past six years which has been as perfect and sunny as this one. With two major and unforgetable weddings, the delivery of one beautiful baby and half of my girl friends knocked up (the ““flower and the bee” story works perfectly indeed...), the sun was not only shining all from the above but continuously in my heart as well.
Due to all the beautiful moments flowers were simply everywhere (in vases, on vests, on dresses or heels, in the form of bouquets or -the very rare occasion- on MY BALKONY). In all their brightness, beauty, vulnerability and evanescence they picture everything the last month stand for. We never had so many sunny days (glee), never so many roses blooming on the sides of the canals (beauty), never so many occasions to slip on featherweight dresses (ease), never so many evenings sitting endlessly outside sipping rose, listening to the very busy bumblebees (pure joy).

It’s also the end of the summer officially, so one last time to put together a flowery wishlist to not forget all that brightness when the leaves inevitably will start falling again.

Here’s to the flowers, the bees and the circle of life in general which all did a fabulous job this summer (ok, sun,- you did well too...). No reason to say good bye though: spotted flowers all over the a\w catwalk already.
