Hello Summer!

Hello Summer!

Sun is dimming its light to a subtle lavender color and small chuckling wave makes the lake in front of me look like a dyed deep blue plissé Isabel Marant skirt (summer collection 2014). The passing little ducklings in their young fluffy plumage would make a fantastic marabu bolero (OK... duckling bolero than...) for next winter and my attempts to keep the last candle burning (summery breeze!) to be able to type are to no avail as is it to neglect the gravity of my eyelids after a long relaxed boat ride in the sun.

When typing this, it’s the first long summer weekend in the Netherlands and I have done nothing but eat and drink with friends for 72 hours solid, dancing on boats and in summer bouts of rain, cycling across the city at 4 in the morning, sleeping in and enjoying life.

Only some simple snapshots, almost no running in heels, no fuss about dress codes, just decadent nothingness (and thinking of those duckling feathers admittedly: they would make fantastic boots too.... )
Please enjoy the official summer opening and shoe yourself, I’ve gone tanning!

Love you all, happy (off) heel greetings!

And when the rain begins to fall…

And when the rain begins to fall....

It’s a public holiday in most European countries, and could just have been the perfect long weekend. And the perfect monday of course: jumping out of bed with glee (and late), putting on the peep toes and a summery dress heading for a long day in the park (picnic), a stroll downtown (shopping), or just putting on some summery tunes while hanging with friends (on heavy rotation at the moment: Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” - ah, what a fantastic song to set a sexy summer mood....)

Am saying it “could have”, because I’m afraid the only “blurred lines” I get today are the ones of rain drops crawling slowly down the window. Again. And it took me a whole day of counselling to not just put a ton of very un-ladylike swear words in today’s text. Or actually no text at all.

So when the rain begins to fall it’s once again only chocolate pie, Prosecco and Games of Thrones (episode 1-15 right after each other) which will make my day. Or maybe, MAYBE a new pair of heels (bought online to not have to leave the house). My current ones just got soaking wet anyway.

Monday Blues

We need to talk about monday.

Am suffering a weekly recurring phenomenon: the Monday blues. Flashy like an episode of "The Kartrashians" (aka reality ouch) it inevitably returns, destroying all "Easy Rider" feelings you might have had over the weekend. Was it just two nights ago that I was playing groupie with my lovely friend Ellen, sipping vodka backstage and dancing wildly to our hubbies' tunes? And just one night ago that I was cuddling carefree on the couch, heels off and "Serendipity" (perfect Sunday movie) on?

Unfortunately (other than in the movies) there's never a happy ending to Sundays, so to turn Blues into Rock'n roll, precautions are crucial. How about applying that super expensive luxury cream waiting in the cupboard for special occasions only? Ha! Shining complexion will match perfectly with sequin skirt (worn to work... why not?). Red peep toes when the weather is grey and cold? Heel, yeah! And sending myself an early Valentine's card (text: “No one can ruin your day without your permission.”) will do the rest.

Monday, you will never get to me again.
Have a lovely day everybody!
