Get me in the mood!

Despite the lack of snow, and general Christmas feeling (yet)...when you hear the first tunes of Mariah Carey yodeling to the jingling sound of bells it’s time to run and undust the sequin dresses, polish the über-big jewellery and put any modesty on hold. It’s December for glamour’s sake, the most sparkling month of the year, and everything normally considered “over the top” or “too much” is now dearly welcome.

A million things to do and organize before the big event but in my mind I already started the annual competition how to outshine the christmas tree, as in sparkling heels and a kitsch outfit (Christmas jumper anyone?). Well, at least once a year it's appreciated to look like a disco ball on acid.

So, just to get me in the mood I decorated a little this weekend, popped some champagne in advance (glistening fluid: my best, where have you been for so long), and threw myself a little pre-christmas party, with the best attendees ever. Finally a reason to bring all shiny shoes on one table! You can bring on Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is Youuuuuuuuu”on repeat now, I’m sure that song was written for yet another pair of gorgeous heels.

Glitter, Glamour, Gorgeous

It’s the most glamorous month of the year, and everything normally considered “over the top” or “too much” is not only appreciated, it’s a must. When you hear the first tunes of Mariah Carey yodeling to the jingling sound of bells it’s time to run and undust the sequin dresses, polish the über-big jewellery and put any modesty on hold: it’s December for glamour’s sake!

I personally can’t wait to hear my family laugh and sqeak when I start my annual competition to outshine the christmas tree, as a sucker for sparkles, I can’t wait to have a decent reason to look like a discoball on acid. So, just to get me in the mood I decorated a little today, popped some champagne in advance (glistening fluid: my best, where have you been for so long), and threw myself a little pre-christmas party, with the best attendees ever! Well, to me that looks all gorgeous. Bring on Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is Youuuuuuuuu”. And by that I mean at least one more pair of glittering heels!

Baby Boom!

Am humming a little lullaby (the one I can't seem to get out of my head since the last baby monitor I heard went off), while arranging my shoes from light pink to light blue.

That’s an absolutely new color range to me, but with the baby boom that's been happening this year (Oh, I so KNOW what you guys did last summer!!!) I can’t help it. Have to dedicate today's post to all my mommy friends out there who are sporting the smokey eye look because not one, but maybe two of their kids were up in the middle of the night. Who find themselves playing a game of “How Many Consecutive Layers of Deodorant Instead of A Shower Is Okay” and praying that the answer is three.

Who instead of thinking what heels would match their outfit, just get dressed in "whatever" pants, regretting never having bought comfy (aka “mommy clothing”) and only gave up Karl’s design after The Little One puked over 100% silk and 600 Euros of Italian leather.

I ADORE your babies and ADMIRE you. And my humble thoughts are with you, knowing that you have no time to fuss about high heels or designer diaper bags because you still worry whether that stuff in your hair is toothpaste or breast milk. Bless you!

One More Trip

Am packing suitcase one last time this year to head back home to Amsterdam (gained weight over the past days will equal exact amount of Xmas presents we dropped off) and am just plain tired. Travelling this year (something around 7 times) was quite a challenge and included preparations that came close to scientific research: "Select heels you haven't worn yet, combine and match them with location and climate you have never seen or experienced and an outfit that brings everything together, plus write about it in a funny way". Haha (aka not so funny when you're leaving the house for anything longer than a weekend).

Don't know exactly when I dropped my habit of "Polaroiding" my outfit combinations (adding little handwritten side notes) this year before even touching my suitcase - somewhere along the way it all turned into more of a: "You know what, skip the outfit, and just wear the damn heels, will ya?" thingy. Duh. But today is the last day of traveling documented on this very blog, so hope lovely readers will have mercy with me and not pay too much attention to a) set (Salzburg's airport didn't prepare anything colorwise), b) outfit (it's 8 in the morning and f**** cold) and c) heels (which I just quickly picked up at the mall as I didn't wanted to ruin new Manohlo's at airport). Questions? Well, you have my email and three days left to complain about it.
