On the road

On the road

I have been on the road for three days past weekend, supporting one of my favorite bands, the AdrianoBaTolba Orchestra. Eutin, our final destination might not be the sexiest place on earth (aka, it's in the middle of nowhere and you wonder if there is such thing as a fox and a hare to bid each other goodnight at all...), but it is THE place to be if you are working some Blues tunes.

And hell, they boys did! Above you find a little road map of all the destinations (four cities in three days, check!) and some favorite Rock 'n Roll heels that I packed. Despite I have to say: the only thing you really need, is a bunch of patches to cover your blisters from dancing and loads of stamina, because these guys not only can play: they can party like world champions as well.

Big X!

Pop of color

Pop of Color!

Almost every decent fashion blogger I know has at least one spring post that begins with the words: “It was such nice weather this weekend that I couldn’t resist matching my summery mood with the brightest colors in my closet.” Quite original right? Later in the year it will be all about how to sport white and how it’s such a fantastic contrast to your tan.... but who can blame them!

With the first flirty sun beams out, I caught myself (guess it’s a natural fashion instinct) removing all the spider-webs from my peep toe boxes, lovingly dusting yellow satin and “attention blue” leather, when some frenzy kicked in. All of a sudden the living room looked like some clowns had quite the swinger party and left without their clothes and heels (question to myself: do clowns wear heels?): but wow! How cheerful!

So here you have it: am coming out of the closet as well. As a sucker for the first pop of color of the year that is. Let’s wait until the sun has done it’s job and I have a nice tan shall we? I almost can’t wait to write about how gorgeously white pumps support summery glowing skin.

Talking Oscars

Talking Oscars

It’s no secret that to win over the academy in the annual Oscar procedure you must a) play a part in a war movie (preferably WWII), b) gain or lose at least 15 pounds for the role, or c) bound and stretch for the miserable past (aka historic epic screen plays). Changing gender on screen helps too, and best if your role fits all of the above.

It was a feast this year to watch most of the actors nominated weaving their way drunk or outraged through 180 minutes, suffering the influence of drugs subscripted or just the cruelty of the non subscribed: ancient historic life. Guess Mr. Hanks is biting his fist now, regretting to only almost have drowned in water (SO NOT VODKA!), and Oprah just dialled Weight Watchers and\or her stylist to change her into a woman. Hmmmm...

Revelation of all this: Since Leonardo did not lose or gain weight for his role wallowing in vice (drugs, money, alcohol, sex), he will not get any statue tonight (again). But he couldn’t care less, he is probably having the most fun doing what he does on and off screen anyway: indulging in the company of a supermodel. I bet she wears gorgeous heels.

I'm Very Gucci, How Are You?

Who would’ve thought that dedicating a year to high heels would be so much work? Living in Amsterdam and wearing everything but rubber boots is a challenge in itself (weather conditions! Cobblestones!). But apparently the blisters, ruined heels and self-imposed task of documenting everything (which admittedly has become a total addiction) weren’t enough for me. On top of it all, I just had to organize a heel sale too.

Needless to say, this kept me more than busy, not to mention sleep - and headless, for almost a week. First I blocked the entire hall and living room with 20 kilos of designer heels. Next I catalogued, priced, advertised, and caressed them (normal people would probably say "polished", but I think I’m past that). Did vaguely wonder: WHAT THE HEEL AM I DOING?!" when I found myself in a sea of shoes, shining soles and lovingly attaching homemade labels somewhere during the second night. Friends may have noticed I was slightly preoccupied; whenever they asked how I was doing, all I could reply was (variable): "Very Prada" or "Very Gucci". And finally, you, my lovely readers, may have noticed I forgot to put my own posts online twice this past week.... unforgivable and am very "Sergio Rossi"!

But with the big sale having taken place yesterday (thank you all for coming!), and now busy with the aftermath (everything in reverse) a question arises. May I be done high heeling for good?

You must be kidding me!

If you're a heel-alista, shoe-oholic, lable-freak, size 37 (that's a size 38 with your heel cut off and a size 36 with thick socks), and reader of my blog: this is your lucky day. Even more so if you're a bitch on a budget who has always dreamt of being able to enrich your closet with some Jimmy (Choo), Marc (Jacobs) or Gucci (Gucci!) heels, but have always left your local heel dealer with a tear in your eye: because aren't they soooooooooooo expensive?

Am offering 30 pairs of precious (think "Lord of the rings" - Golom's "Preeeeeciouuuusssss") heels: some of them worn (with love), some of them brand new, for a price which will not only make your feet happy but your wallet too. Brandnew Choo's for EUR 179? Yep. Prada's for EUR 75? So right. But how???

Well, am throwing a heel-party in Amsterdam and if all the above fits any kind of your heel-personality or attitude: you are more than welcome. Simply like http://www.facebook.com/EddaLovesHeels, and share (my VIP list, and your entrance ticket) on Facebook and mark the 4th of November (1-5pm) in your agenda. 30 pairs of shoes need to GO GO GO and right in your closet.

Spread the word, and stay tuned for updates (and location) on this very blog. Am SO excited!!!!

Sollenau (next to Vienna) is a small village where the fox and the hare bid each other goodnight. It would also be the dullest place on earth (sorry Sollenauers…) if it weren’t for one of the most fancy shoe stores in Austria: “Wunderl”.

Back in the day (before everything was just a mouse click away), this was the only place selling Prada, Tod’s, Guiseppe Zanotti, Stuart Weitzman and all the other delicious brands that make a heel-addict’s heart skip a beat.

Once upon a time, some 12 years ago, a little girl with a big bonus from work went in “just to have a look”. It took her all of 60 minutes to spend ALL of what she had earned, stocking up on the loveliest of heels, feeling very much like Alice in Wonderland.
In shoe-Wunderl-wonderland that is. And, you guessed right: the gal was me.
It was the beginning of an enduring love affair with beautiful shoes, detailed design in a size 37 (the only size which has never changed through all the yo-yo’s in my life), and in a sense the origin of this very blog.

All these years later, not much has changed: Dolce is even using the same patterns this summer as they did back then. And I still feel very “Alice”, wishing my shoes would miraculously multiply overnight.
Like bunnies. In or out of Wonderland: I wouldn’t care.

You know, I never really won anything. Like nice random stuff.

Ok: I took part in a “doodle some kites” competition and won a chess book.
I was five.
And when I was eight or so I won a box of Eskimo ice -
(which we forgot in the fridge, so it caught freezer bum and it was of no use anymore).
Not to forget the rubber toy, which I got when I became the 1000th visitor at a food chain. If you are 31, you are really happy with the mascot of a cheap supermarket.

So you see, I need to improve.

That’s why I gave myself up for the Elle Style Award Foto Competition.
You know: grab a nice outfit, take a picture of yourself, send it, wait if they post it and then win tickets to the event if people eventually like it.

ELLE Style Awards

I’m embarrased and all to ask… but would you vote for me if they post my picture?

I mean come on… a free glass of champagne is a free glass of champagne, right? :-))

And yeah: of course I am ALWAYS wearing dresses on sundays!

P.S.: Todays shoes are Dolce & Gabbana
