Dancing on the ceiling

Dancing on the ceiling

"So what do you think the magic of Berlin is?" BF asks me. We are sitting in a cab after our last event in Germany's capital, and it's four in the morning. The city is covered in lights, and those who are serious about partying are just about to go out.

Am utterly tired, but feel like a satisfied cat purring, feet still seesawing to the tunes I was dancing to a couple of minutes ago.
"The magic of Berlin?" Wow. Isn't it more what's NOT magic about Berlin?

The constant high, as if you were on drugs. All the nice events, the music, the friendly people. Isn't it always the people? The feeling that you are constantly surrounded by friends, laughter, and the next party just another pair of heels away...

Instead of answering the question I keep smiling out of the window.
Guess in my mind am still dancing on the ceiling.
Wohooo, what a feeling....

On our way home from the cinema yesterday (Dear Emma Stone: loved your black overknees! Dear Emma Stone: teamed up with cognac-colored boots, not so much...), we strolled past all the beautifully lighted shopping windows: Whoopsie!
Autumn (heel) collections everywhere! And Mrs. Stone wasn’t so wrong in her bootie (color) choice after all: loads of dark green, brown, black, cognac colored beauties everywhere, just waiting to be worn. Now I know myself and a new heel season always means a stretch on bank account too...*sigh*

End up at the Daniele Dentici shop window, as glued to the window as Spiderman was to Emma just a couple of hours ago. Beautiful, inspiring stuff: soft leathers neatly arranged one after the other. I almost wished it was autumn and cold already so I’d have an excuse to buy them all.

(Spiderman’s ability to break glass would be very much appreciated too...)
Oh wait! It’s raining and cold outside today... the perfect excuse to hide somewhere dark green (Chesterfield couch), armed with intellectual literature, brown cookies and the odd (black) coffee, tucked snugly under a blanket.

And whoopsie!... how did those cuties land on my feet?
Obviously nothing wrong with adding a bit of “cognac” to the color pallet on a lazy sunday afternoon...

If I hadn’t been down with the flu I totally would have told you sooner that I was approached with the request to do an interview for a Dutch magazine called (translated) “Shoe Vision” at the beginning of this week. This came completely out of the blue and utterly flattered and excited I accepted.

I do now find myself freaking out a little at the request to include a “portrait picture” in the article though. I mean, hell yeah, the legs are in shape. Shaved, polished, rubbed with baby oil every day, caressed with Dr. Scholl feet lotion and spoiled with attention. The face: not so much (I wouldn’t recommend Dr. Scholl as a facial treatment anyway).

This is quite the dilemma. Botox will only show after a couple of days (the interview is scheduled for tomorrow), a chemical peel will make me look like a baboon’s butt, and I totally forgot about my (self-fabricated) haircut which only works in combination with a rubber band and a pot of fudge. In a panic I focus on outfit (lovely Ellen Benders dress today) and shoes, but I’m afraid this won’t do the job.

However, after having photoshopped today’s picture (at least one form of shopping after two days of illness, I did get a little swept away :-)…. I am pretty confident there must be a Photoshop app that can retouch my (still) red nose and the odd wrinkle for my portrait. Problem solved, Shoe Vision, here I come!

Under construction

One of the worst things that can happen to a vivacious and outgoing lady is for her to lose her voice (I was tempted to write a leg, but my humor seems as sick as I am today so I’d rather not). At least to me it is.

It seems that somewhere between horse and private plane I have caught a pretty big cold on Ameland. And this unwelcome guest has not only taken my voice but also my ability to think, joke, and basically all ability to move.
The latter is really a pity as I have SUCH incredibly lovely shoes lined up for today, and really want to put them in the spotlight.

Now they are just part of my contagious “crime scene”, I’m afraid today is really not the day to come up with a fancy photo shoot.
So, this means that for now I am pretty much under construction (aka it’s bad, bad, bad).

Off to bed now.
Will cuddle my shoes instead of wearing them tonight.
