How to: THE DENIM GUIDE

How to: THE DENIM GUIDE

My 80ties nightmare is a pair of high-waist mommy jeans, worn with a perm to distract from the most unflattering ass ever. But that didn’t stop me from following the nineties denim trend with a stone washed carrot-shaped piece of navy fabric accompanied with the shoe-of-the-hour: jogging highs. (Brrrrrr!) Since then I have been a little careful following “denim trends” and it’s ambassadors (unforgettable: Britney Spears and Justin in a unisex tip-to-toe indigo combo), but this season there’s no way around it.

Denim is back as strong as its woven texture and if you invest smart, you will have at least four good reasons to buy some must-have shoes to complete the outfit du jour (which anyway is THE reason to follow a trend, don’t you agree?). Nothing wrong with a jumpsuit worn with a statement heel now (my favorite for a lazy day, no other styling needed!) or a cute little denim flowery skirt to channel your romantic side (peep toes, booties, sandals!). And although I will have to get used to the legitimate wear of flare jeans, I need a good reason to purchase clogs (back on the runway and hot!).

Best of it: you can mix & match all of the above because the greatest thing of any denim trend (throughout the years): it goes with everything!
HAVE FUN!

Amongst the talents my adorable Mom transferred to me (a lot of them linked to creating beautiful things and drinking impossible amounts of champagne while doing so), I totally lack the gift of her most forceful strength: a green thumb.

Being known myself for killing even the most resistant house plant in an instant, my mom transformed the backyard of our Salzburg home into some sort of Disney Land for beetles, butterflies, and bees (I know for a fact that champagne was involved...) and designed a blooming treasure chest where time seems to stand still and all trouble far away.

Although my understanding of a treasure chest would be more “Sex and the city” orientated (meaning that a huge shoe-closet full of designer heels is involved), I must confess that this little paradise totally lures you into forgetting to check your news feed. Instead this secret garden inspires to sit and read an actual book, jump happily between rose bushes for no reason, pick wild berries, recite Goethe and cut wild flowers all day long.

Actually with your heels off. If you ask me, that’s magic.

Am blessed, spoiled party gal, who has just had the nicest 48 hours of celebrations.
Well, what else to do with some time on my hand, and a suitcase full of heels eagerly waiting to be walked in übercool city Berlin? Right.

I haven’t seen much of the city yet (except the only cafe providing internet... Can you believe it: no connection what.so.ever in loft we are staying at), only clubs and bars - and not to forget all the lovely people who have flown in from London and Amsterdam for the opening of Hesse Studios. Ditching the party heels for more comfy style (haha), celebrate a reunion with Rockbitch and my sweet friend BLDITW (Best looking drummer in the world) who’s in the band “Die Happy” and I hadn’t seen in years. So lovely, and nobody wants to go home really.

48 hours later it’s Monday, and am exhausted, but happy gal (as usual regretting the last glass of wine), waking up in übercool sunny Berlin. Not that I have seen anything of the city yet...
