When two rising stars on the fashion firmament happen to circulate the same orbit, a supernova is to be expected. In the most subtle, elegant and pleasant way imaginable though. Esther Dorhout Mees (“Garments are emotion”) enchanted the catwalk of fashion week this spring with a collection entirely inspired by wood: vulnerable yet strong, like branches in the wind.
Her floaty, silky creations (a dream to wear!) were accompanied by stunning accessories (yes! bark of a tree as a belt) and shoes fresh out of the 3D printer of designer wizzard Janne Kytannen.
Nothing more and nothing less could have got me out of bed on a Sunday morning, walking couture in the dunes of Holland at a chilled wind force ten, with the most happiest fashion smile on my face. Now the only thing missing is some kind of Leonardo Di Caprio embracing me from behind so that I can shout out loudly “I’m the king of the (couture) world”.

Today's shoes are designed by Esther Dorhout Mees and made possible in great collaboration with 3D systems.
